okay so. i'm doing not too bad my senior year so far in all of my classes...... except AP calculus. my teacher is an incredibly tough teacher and i ended up getting a 72 which is either a D or a D- at my school during the first marking period. i really dont want the schools to second guess anything because of that because my teacher told us that the first half of the marking period is the killer semester and the rest is supposed to get easier. but mid year reports wont see that i went up in grades. but do you think that'll be like a huge dent in everything? and my apps?

Having a D or a D- may not sit well on your application. I’m another senior in high school like you, and am not an admissions officer. From my perspective, it may not help a whole lot to have that “gap” in your first semester report. Don’t rule out anything just yet, based on my opinion, because AP Calculus is a difficult course. It may shake up the adcom who is viewing your application, but if the rest of your statistics can justify your grade, then you should be in fair condition.

okay. yeah i definitely think ill be able to bring it up but i dont know… cuz i seriously don’t know what to expect with my teacher.
