I have similar situation. I already applied early to an Ivy League, and I will get a decision around Dec. 15th. I used to be straight A student, but now I think I have a severe case of senioritis. I will have 2-4 Bs in AP courses (Lit, Gov't & Politics, and in worst case scenerio-but unlikely- maybe Bio and Calc) at the end of the first semester. If I am accepted, will college rescind my acceptance? If I am rejected, how much will my senior grades hurt my admission chance in other schools?

My bet is that those grades wouldn't lead to an acceptance being rescinded - but they could hurt at other selective schools in the RD round.

Ok. Let's hope I get accepted in my early decision school then!!

I actually know of someone who was accepted to an elite school ED and then "took the rest of the year off". His grades slipped so bad that the college did rescind the acceptance and he had to go to summer school just to be able to get his high school diploma. He had been an incredible student with lots of great credentials. Right now he is working and I guess applying to new colleges-I can't ask his parents because it is too painful for them, so I am not exactly sure what he wants to do in the fall.

If you slip to B's, there's no way a school would rescind. That would happen if you failed classes or became a low C student (in every subject) for the end of the year

If I am accepted into early decision school, do I still have to send mid-year report? Or, it will take a look at only the final transcript?

would u get rescinded from uci with these grades senior year?

ap calc: b-
ap stats: a+
econ: a+
english 4: a
3d media design: a
ap physics: d+/c-

No way would they rescind for B's.

Sigh of relief

how about for me?

it depends on where your low grade is.

if you are slipping to D's in courses like basic english, or the required government course your school may of may not have, it may send up a red flag, (not only because these should be easy courses) but because often you need these courses to graduate.

But if you have a solid A trend, with a low grade in something like AP physics or multivariable calculus, they will probably cut you some slack. Furthermore, if this is related to something out of the picture (death in the family, severe illness, etc.) your GC can kind of "cover up" for you.
