Senioritis

I'm a high school senior and I've got a horrible case of senioritis. My grades are all still in the 4.0 range, but my work ethic is completely non existent. I'm taking B's where I should have A's, and low A's when I should dominate the class.

I've already been accepted to my first choice school and filled out the housing applications, so I'm really just playing the waiting game. I want high school to be over with and I can't find any motivation.

I really wouldn't be that worried, but I'm afraid that this lackadaisical attitude might follow me into college, and then I'll REALLY be hurting. I think I'll feel more motivated in college but I'm just not sure.

Has anyone ever been through a similar experience?

I have senioritis right now too...
went from all As to Cs and Bs if I'm lucky.
Accepted and offered a full ride at my first choice, so as long as I graduate I'm happy...

The problem is that if you ever intend to transfer to another college while you are in college, the college you are applying to will require you to send in your HS transcript. Thus senioritis, can still hurt you even if you managed to pull passing grades.

On a side note. During senior year, I've received a D in Spanish because I missed a test to play basketball haha.

Senioritis is killing me. The thing that sucks is that it is also killing my college grades.

I thought that once you went to college and had enough credits, your HS transcript was no longer required? Does anyone know how many credits it takes?

I had senioritis my senior year, and went into college reinvigorated and have done just fine so far. You're probably bored with high school and ready for college; that's what I think happened with me. There are still some procrastinators here, but if the senioritis hasn't lasted you more than a year, you should be fine.

remember....senioritis now, senioritis far worse later.... you may want to improve your work ethic so you don't screw yourself later.
....But I'll admit, I have collegiate senioritis... I'm just not letting it effect my grades. I can't afford to, so I'm still pulling straight-As... you can do it, you just have to focus!

OKgirl, I have a high school diploma, a BA and several years of grad school.

When going back to school (in an undergraduate program) I was required to submit transcripts from all 3 of those schools. It's possible that I could have had the high school transcript waived; but it was a large state university and they have one set of rules for everyone so that the process is streamlined. In my experience it's easier to comply with the one-size-fits-all rules than to try to negotiate an exception, so unless my high school no longer existed or something there wouldn't be a point.

That said, I suspect that once everything I was supposed to submit was in my file and it was moved on to whoever had to review it, my performance since high school would have outweighed virtually anything. On the other hand, I can't be sure right now that something won't happen in the near future to affect my performance such that the record I'm compiling right now wouldn't turn out to be a lot more important than I think it will.

I will admit, though, that high school was not an experience that mattered to me at all except in terms of escaping it. Once I was sure I had a way out of the life I was living, I slacked off. It's not something I'm especially proud of, but I'm not particularly ashamed either.

Doesn't senioritis hit everybody?

Don't worry enjoy your last year and don't stress out. Everybody around me went sorta insane and did stupid things (like skipping too much = got kicked out of high school 3 months before graduation, also not doing homework at all + skipping = almost losing her scholarship) but long as you stay in the B range... you'll be fine. Its only one semester in your life you won't really care abotu what you get. haha. I surely enjoyed it.

Everyone has been in a similar situation, that's why it's called senioritis. Most seniors get it.

Motivation will come a lot easier in college than the last few months of HS.

Low A's??? wow, you don't have senioritis at all, fool. mods, lock this thread.

^LMAO

Seriously if you getting A's and saying you have senioritis something's wrong

Senioritis is the intellectual malaise that hits every senior hard, especially in this month and the one following. Whether your grade goes from an A to a B (or to an F/D, as is my case: love AP Euro!), the lack of motivation is the defining characteristic. If he feels he has no motivation and is simply adept at BS'ing his way to A's, then that's senioritis for him.

But personally, I think the OP is absurd. Nobody in any of my classes has any motivation any more. When teachers ask who did the homework, we just give them blank stares. People who've gotten A's all throughout high school are no longer studying and are getting B's and C's. The people who are still getting A's are the same people whose parents can afford to spend thousands on antidepressants and caffeine. Ironically, I'm doing better in most of my classes this quarter than last, with the exception of one, which I am currently failing (pro tip: pass in essays!). Crossing my fingers to pass!

I had junioritis. Barely kept my grades that year, but gathered some strength and pulled through it.

This year?

Totally better.

Trust me, if you have a relaxed summer -than you'll get back your mojo :)

And at least you know that it's affecting you and you are worrying about next year. That shows motivation to me :)

/b/tard =P

bahhh enjoy seniorities. I had a pretty decent case of senioritis throughout my second semester. It´ll be 100% gone by the time you get to college. You´ll be motivated to do well once you realize that you´re a step closer to reaching the "real world".

"I have senioritis right now too...

Hopefully, they won't rescind your admission/scholarship.

rules 1 and 2, anon; rules 1 and 2

srsly now

this is one disease i can't wait to get..and cant wait until AP Tests are done this year too

Rule 34 on IlikeDice
I saw it myself
