SENIORS: Have you started your applications yet?

All I've done so far (Common App.) is filled in the basics. And that was like 3 weeks ago. Haha.

Did anybody start writing their essays yet? I think I'll start next week. Sitting on a computer for god knows how many hours in July does not work. August will be much better.

i wrote an essay but its 800-900 words long, so i'm waiting for the school year to start...i need teachers' help cutting it down

I'm going to start my essays very soon hopefully. I'm sort of brain dead right now so nothing very smart is going through my mind.

That's crazy all, it's times like these I'm glad I found out about this site so late in the game or else I would have felt horrible about starting my applications post-Thanksgiving, but w/e, at least those times are over and good luck seniors :)

I wrote one essay, checked the word count and it was exactly 500 words long! How's that for luck? ;) It probably will change after editing though. I'm not sure if I really like my essay :( I'm starting to get really nervous about applying.

i want to start mine, hafta get one app in by november 1st!

Ditto here about the basic info and the essays...
I've got two essays written already, but I haven't put them on the actual application yet because I need my teachers to edit them for me.

I've been spazzing about college for about a month now... as in, hardcore, have nightmares about not making it in anywhere. Anybody with me?

i haven't really started mine, but i had to throw together an essay to appease the GCs in like may but i don't like it so either i'll have to make major changes or just write a different one.

I've started writing my essay, which is already really long and not even finished. It's not for a standard school though, the one I want to attend puts an emphasis on the essay and recommendations, so I guess it should be longer.

I've done everything... except the essays and giving teachers recs. =P

do all colleges require essay, or do some not?

All selective colleges require an essay. DannyLS3, what school are you writing your essay for?

I've started my essay finally. It seems like it is going to be way longer than 500 words though because I spent so much time on the introduction. I hope they don't mind if its like 600-650 words instead.

i have filled out Common App basics
i just did one of the short answer for U Chicago
i wrote an essay, but i need to edit (or let a teacher read it)
oh, in case anyone's interested UGA (my safety) doesnt require an essay OR teacher recs for EA! (or at least it looks that way)

i filled out common app basics too.

i have a personal essay i've used for scholarships and stuff that i want to brush up on but it's on my other computer so i can't edit/read/etc. yet. and that computer is 3000 miles away. rawr.

i want stanford's app but it's not up yet. they said mid-aug.

I've already gotten into two schools I've applied to without any essay. The third school I've applied to I had to write a short personal statement that was maybe 100 words long probably. My big one will come when the application comes out for the United States Military Academy.

Nope! I don't even have a sure list of colleges I'll be applying to. I'm having trouble picking out safety schools. =/ Maybe I'll start a new thread asking for advice on how to do just that.

I can't wait to write the essays!

hops_scout - which schools were those?

I haven't filled in any applications yet, but I did get a commonapp account. I've been thinking about the essays mostly. I started writing one just to get used to writing essays that I might use for a free choice. I also started some drafts of essays for UVa's prompts.

i picked some of the schools i wanna apply to. thats all i did so far.

theoneo, I've applied to Blackburn College (<a href="http://www.blackburn.edu%5B/url%5D">www.blackburn.edu</a>) and Southeast Missouri State (<a href="http://www.semo.edu)%5B/url%5D">www.semo.edu)</a>. I completed both of their applications online.
