Seniors, how Many APs Did You Take in HS...

Haha I wish I self studied freshmen year when my classes were really easy. I’m sure 2 history classes would have been manageable. Self study is unheard of at my school because you need to get a teacher to sign off that you were in at least the honors level

9 APs for me
Sophomore-

AP world history - 5
AP calculus AB - 5
AP physics B - 4 (self study)

Junior-

AP calculus BC - 5
AB subscore 5
AP Biology - 5
AP U. S. History - 4
AP physics C mechanics - 5 (self study)

Senior -

AP us government and politics - pending, predicting 4. (self study)

AP microeconomics - pending, predicting 5 (self study)

I also took 32 hours of dual enrollment senior year with straight As, hence the AP dropoff.

I’m a junior and will have taken 6 or 7.
Calc, language, chemistry, stats, bio, and government

90% sure I got 4s and 5s on all of them.

Truth is… All you have to do is go to a high school with lots of APs, and unless there is placement testing, you just sign up!

Any of you guys get a laugh out of news articles that congratulate someone for winning something / getting into prestigious colleges then as background info shows off how many AP’s they’ve taken (with special emphasis like wow–he’s taken so many)… :)

Wow I took only 2 APs throughout high school and my high school offered a good amount too, it’s just that most of the AP exams offered at my school were unrelated to me. They had 3 language APs, but not the one I take, all the English APs, which I’m not good at, and the Art APs, which I was more involved in Music throughout high school. I’d say almost none of the students in my school ever self-study for an AP.

9 AP Classes, 12 AP Tests

Euro: 5
US History: 5
Chem: 4
Psych: 5
Awaiting the other 8.

I’m an upcoming senior, but this is what I am planning on doing.
We aren’t allowed to take AP classes before Junior yea.r

Junior Year:
AP Psychology
AP Human Geography
AP Statistics
AP Comparative Government and Politics
AP US History
AP Macroeconomics
AP Microeconomics
AP English Language and Composition

Senior Year:
AP Biology
AP Chemistry
AP Physics B (may self-study for AP Physics C: Mechanics)
AP Calculus BC (may self-study for AP Calculus BC)
AP Computer Science A
AP English Literature and Composition
AP US Government and Politics

AP Art History (not sure about this one yet, self study)

Freshman:
Human Geo (5)

Sophomore:
World History (5)
European History (5)

Junior:
English Language (probably 5)
US History (probably 5)
Art History (probably 5)
French Language (can’t really say… I doubt I got a 5 though)

Senior (I’ve moved and actually haven’t contacted my new school yet but I’m guessing that these will be my courses)
Calculus BC
Macroeconomics
US Government
English Literature
Psychology or an AP science… not sure yet (I’m only going to be able to fit one of them)
Possibly Computer Science since I’m going to need to take a career preparatory course and the only other options are woodshop, fashion design, marketing, auto tech and a few other courses that I don’t really want to take…

So I’ll probably end up taking about 12-13 AP courses and exams. I really wanted to take AP Music Theory but my new school doesn’t offer that so I might choose to self study that. Same with Comparative Government and Stats, those those two are less likely… Coud rise to 15-16 if I choose to self-study.

Rising Senior, but this is what I will have taken

Soph:
US Gov (5)

Junior:

18

Was it challenging?
Not really

Was it worth it?
Probably not…

Sorry for the late reply, but I did indeed graduate this year. I studied for psych using the Princeton Review book the night before for about 2 hours and for 3-4 hours right before the test, with breaks. I’m feeling a pretty confident 5. It was extremely easy.

Also, it’s CaptainADDY. It’s cool though, hahah

AP World History
AP Calculus AB
AP English Language
AP U.S. History
