So it's that time of year. Seniors are graduating. As a freshman, I've made so many close senior friends this year. I've never dealt with losing so many friends at once with many of them to never be seen again. And it sucks more that I'm gonna experience this multiple times. Any experiences to share concerning loss of seniors? Share

Every year our little theatre family suffers at the loss of another group of amazing, talented seniors that we have to desperately struggle to replace. Last year is when it really hit home because I’d been working with these people for 3 years, some of them becoming close friends, and then they were cast off across the country. And this year, I’m part of that group that’s leaving, and it’s very sad. I feel like I’m abandoning my family.

It’s not a big deal for us considering we have people moving in and out of our school all the time. We usually have 1/3 of our underclassmen leave only to have an equal number of underclassmen to replace them. So we’re used to people leaving.

@David I know man. I hate that my friends are leaving. From what I understand from you, this feeling occurs every year.
@Rob That must suck that your school is in this massive cycle. At least you keep a neutral viewpoint on it.

Yeah, it really sucks. Of the ~200 in any given graduating class at our school, only about 50 to 75 were here as a freshman. But the funny thing is, believe it or not, I think I see more of the seniors after they graduate than the underclassmen who don’t graduate and often move. The reason is because so many of the seniors stick around the area and attend the local university or community college, while their families move elsewhere. But when you’re still in high school, you’re stuck with your family and have to go wherever they go, which usually means moving somewhere else.

■■■■ yes, so many good friends are leaving off to college. its really freaking saddening

YES.
I have the small, tight-knit theater group too. This year, we have 4 seniors leaving us. The previous year, we had like 8 leave (it was really bad; they were a talented bunch).
Treasure the time you have. :)

I felt very sad when I was the one leaving to college.

I totally know what you mean. I have a few very close friends who are seniors, plus a handful of good friends. I don’t know how I’m going to say goodbye next week.
