I'm "planning" on doing my scholarship search this summer, i hope to get it all done;is that to quixote?

That's probably not going to happen...

Whatever you do, try to fit in as many scholarship apps as you can before winter break/Christmas. I missed a lot of deadlines cuz I wasn't aware of the scholarships until it was too late (so search heavily in the summer! It will probably be too soon for most all deadlines). Senioritis really starts to kick in hardcore in January, and after you get your college acceptance, all bets are off.

I did a lot of them before winter break too. I tried to do them during the summer, but there was nothing really out for me besides national ones I didn't have a chance for. In March and April a lot of good local ones came out for us. Senioritis does kick in, and it's great for you if you try to beat it because no one else will do those scholarships. (Actually, these last few months I knew a couple of people who were like "Crap! I forgot to get free money!" and were frantically trying to get everything done.)

I agree that you start searching for scholarships in the summer and keep record of all the ones that you are interested in even if the deadline is still way off that way you can go back to them quickly when you start applying. Yeah senioritis does kick in in the spring semester, but try your best to beat it...trust me you'll be glad you applied when you start getting those award letters...Im serious it DOES pay off!! I so far have a total of 58,825 in scholarship money..the reason its so high is that some of them are renewable scholarships not one-time scholarships...A very good and extremely generous scholarship is the Gates Millenium Scholars Scholarship they basically cut a check for you that covers your school's unmet need which is basically loans and workstudy and its a renewable scholarship! Mind you its a very long and tedious application and its a nationwide competition, but don't get discouraged cause I almost did and see I ended up getting this scholarship. Also, as an added incentive if you choose to persue a carreer in the fields that they designate they will give you money to keep going onto your masters and even your doctorate! They also help out in study abroad in case you want to go... Oh and this scholarship is funded by a grant by Bill Gates so as you can see they can afford to be extremely generous! Also to apply to this scholarship you must be a minority that falls under one of these 4 organizations: The Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA),be of native american heritage (Sorry can't remember the specific org), be African American and go under the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), or of hispanic heritage and go under the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF). Look out for this scholarship during the fall with a deadline in January, but keep in mind that it can change.
