AP french
AP lit
AP studio art (if they dont have enough people, ill just self study it)

hon genetics

this is reasonable, yes? all APs would be at the same time. french and german would also overlap for at least a quarter. this shouldnt be a big deal cos theyre such different levels/languages, right? i just wanted to be cool and post my possible sched and freak out. also, is AP studio art a good idea to self study? cos you cant really have good crits with 1 person and a teacher.

I’d just warn you that the kids who take AP Studio and get fives are the ones going to Pratt, RISD, MICA, etc.

Also, if you do take AP Studio, make sure you get to a National Portfolio Day. Around here, they have them at art colleges, and it’s basically when representatives from different art schools take a look at your work and tell you what’s good about it/what’s not.

AP Studio might be a hard self study because the “exam” is you sending in slides and works. Talk to the art teacher at your school and see if you can have his/her help in preparing these slides.

risd and mica are my 2nd choices, LOL (sva is 1st) im gonna do photogz

ive already been to a NPD, it wasnt that helpful cos everyone just liked my stuff…cooper union just told me i should draw more, but that wasnt really surprising, the reason id self study AP art is cos they most likely wont have enough people to offer the class (11 needed out of 3500 kids in my school…i have no idea why no one likes art around here) plus im VP of photo club, going to be president next year and im in national art honor society, so im pretty tight with many of the art teachers

Good. I just wanted to make sure you weren’t thinking it’d be a fluffy class for people who draw ok.

If you do photog, you’ll want AP Studio 2D. If you already have a portfolio, then the class should be an easy self-study.

Listen to what they told you at NPD. It’s very common for the AP grader’s comments on your work to match the NPD rep’s almost exactly. One of the best artists at my school got a 2 on the exam because she didn’t listen to what the reps told her and instead did non-observation drawings.

In my school, they mix all the studio classes into one time, so like studio I, studio II, portfolio development (usually fashion design) and AP studio all meet at the same time in the same place. (Actually, the reason I know about AP is because I take studio II and I sit at the same table as the AP’s and am friends with the art teacher.)

Maybe you could talk your school into combining AP/non AP classes, or just sit in a non AP studio class and do your AP stuff? It sucks that you don’t have enough people. In my school of 450 where only seniors and some juniors can take studio, we have eleven or so kids in AP and twenty in regular studio.
