I just submitted my application for a college but realized that I put in the wrong supplemental essay: for some reason, I accidentally put in my rough first draft, instead of the final version. The admissions office is closed until after the deadline. Should I try contacting the school to fix this, or should I just leave it be, since them knowing that I put in the wrong essay will look bad anyway?
How ‘rough’ is the version you sent? Had you made substantial changes between the draft and final?
Have you checked the school’s website to see if they give any advice on how to update applications?
I assume you don’t have access to the portal yet, but if you do, check there for possible options to update as well.
If the above two actions don’t clarify things, and the draft is rough, I would email your admissions rep with the correct essay attached. Keep the email short…something like ‘my name is x, I sent the wrong supplemental essay, attached is the correct one. Thank you.’
Good luck.
