Hey everyone I just realized while I was updating my academic information that somehow my old rough draft personal statement was submitted instead of the final one. I have time stamps showing that I have not worked on them since mid-November. I am freaking out because those essays are complete trash. HELP??? ANY IDEAS? I just sent an email to UC but like I said I'm freaking out!!!!

There is no way the UCs are going to let you change your personal statement this late.

Daaamn…

Look, I’m not sure anyone could be of any help whatsoever as far as fixing this. But if you have good stats and you applied to several schools, just know that the personal statement is only part of what they look at (in fact, I think only 3 schools even use them when deciding admissions).

What’s wrong with the rough draft? Grammar, structure and such? Or you just don’t like what they’re about?

Yeah, I don’t think you can edit or change your personal statements after submitting your application in fairness to other applicants.

If you do not intend to go to UCLA, Cal, or perhaps even UCI, you don’t have to worry much about the PS since it’s not a determining factor in your admission decision for the other 6 schools. Otherwise, good luck next year…
