I took my SAT 1 on Oct 11, but did not select the option to send scores immediately. Scores came out on 28th Oct, and on 29th Oct, I used the 4 free send report credits to 4 colleges that I was applying EA for.

At that time, I had no idea what rush report meant and I thought all scores were sent electronically.

Fast forward to deadline day, 1 Nov, and I have submitted everything on Common Apps.

I realised I forgot to send in my scores for the remaining 2 scores, so I quickly send them out. It was then that I realised scores were not immediately sent to colleges, but that it took 1 - 2 weeks.

I ordered rush report scores for the 2 colleges, and I re-sent my score to the earlier 4 scores again using rush report.

So I have 3 questions: do colleges accept SAT scores that reach them after 1 Nov, even if I ordered them on 1 Nov itself?

What would the effect of me re-ordering my scores using rush report be for the first 4 schools? Would it be too late since they have already sent out my scores?

How will I know that my scores have been sent out successfully (and received by the individual colleges successfully?)

Usually within 48 hours of you submitting an application, colleges will give you a log in to a portal. Here it shows what they have/have not received. That is how you can check. Also, I believe CollegeBoard on the SAT Score Send shows you when things got sent out.

We were very surprised to see that the scores my daughter requested on Oct. 28 were received by one of the colleges on Oct. 30. It doesn’t seem that it always takes the 1 - 2 weeks college board says it does!

There are a small number of colleges that want the scores in their hands by Nov 1 or sent by no later than Nov 1 for EA or ED. The vast majority accept scores that are sent and arrive after Nov 1 and many of them (such as all the ivies) even accept Nov SAT test scores for ED or EA. Schools that actually require scores to be in their hands or that they be sent no later than Nov 1 (Ohio State and Mich, for example) tell you that on their sites. If you are having trouble determining the issue when looking at a college site, see if the college accepts the Oct ACT for EA or ED. If it does, it accepts scores sent after Nov 1 because those ACT scores are not even released until second week of Nov.

OP, your post raises an issue that you may not be aware of. You state that on Oct 29, you used your four free send score reports to send scores to four colleges. That would have been impossible. Your free sends expired the second Monday (nine days) after the October SAT test was taken. If you did not designate colleges to receive scores by that second Monday, you lost your free sends. The only way you could have ordered Oct scores sent on Oct 29 was to pay a fee per college. Do you happen to have an application file for the Nov or Dec 2014 SAT or subject tests? If so, you may have gone into that file and designated colleges for the free sends, and, if that is the case, those test scores won’t be sent until after you take that future test. In any event, it looks like you resolved any possible problem by ordering some rush scores.

It is not that big of a deal. I have heard of cases where people never even sent their scores to a college and still got accepted. For the most part (now take this with a grain of salt because I am NOT an admissions officer), colleges use the score you put on the common app and only use the official score report to verify that you were telling the truth.

Phew! That was a close shave and I didn’t even know. I did have an application for subject tests will ill be taking this weekend, no wonder I had the free 4 score report credit.

I did apply ea for uni of michigan, so I guess I’ll miss out on that one then.

I sent my application in on 1 Nov. It’s already 3 days but I haven’t received any confirmation email from any college. Should I contact them?
