Before my Oct. SAT scores came in, I had sent my score report to Cornell from College Board. I also signed up for the Nov. SAT Subjects.

Questions:
1. Now that my Oct. SAT scores are in, do they automatically get sent to Cornell or do I have to re-send my scores?
2. After my Nov. scores will have been released, will Cornell automatically receive them?

Unless you listed Cornell as a college to automatically receive scores as part of your registration for the Oct test (such as one of your free sends), the Oct scores will not be sent as part of that order you made before scores came out; such orders for which you pay the $10 fee capture all scores that exist at time order is made, not ones that are released afterwards.

Likewise, the Nov scores will not be sent for any order made now. Cornell strongly advises that for you to have a real chance of having Nov scores arrive in time to be considered for ED you should designate it as one your free sends for the test and thus send them blind; waiting to order after the scores come out has risk of being too late. You can make a college designation as one of your free sends in your Nov test registration by Nov 18.

Yes there was no fee when I sent the scores. On the score report that I send the Oct. and Nov. tests are listed (but obviously the scores are not on there). Does that mean Cornell automatically receive my scores?

I clicked my score send history and it says that none of my scores have been sent! I pressed “continue” on the page that lists the 4 colleges I can send my scores to for free and the tests that I’m sending to them. On the next page it says on the top “Your scores will be sent soon” but I have done this a week ago and even now it says none of my scores have been sent!

You say you didn’t pay and you can see the system is set to send out reports for both Oct. and Nov.

That indicates you did NOT utilize the four free scores offer in connection with your Oct. test.

Instead, when you signed up for the Nov. subject test, you took advantage of that opportunity to set up four free score reports.

-Obviously, the free reports associated with a particular test are not released to schools until that test is taken, graded and the score is released. For you, that means in late November.
-All College Board score reports, whether free or pay, will show–by default unless you exercise score choice–ALL SCORES of every SAT test and subject test that have been released as of the time you place the score report order, i.e., they are backward-looking. The only look forward and grab future test scores if you are ordering them “blind,” i.e., before seeing your score, as one of your four free reports associated with a test registration. Because of this process, it is highly unlikely you ordered them with your Oct. test–it would not reach forward and include your Nov. subject tests. That score report would have gone out to your colleges when the Oct. scores were released (and included any prior SAT or subject test scores).

If you want Cornell to have your Oct. SAT score before late Nov., when they will receive your subject test scores, you must go in and pay for it to be sent to them now.

So let me get this right (that was a difficult read):

Since all the scores, including my Nov. scores (you’re right, I did use the 4 free college option when I registered for the Nov. test), will be send to Cornell, NONE of the scores will actually be sent until I get my November scores?

So bottom line:
If that is the case, what do I need to do in order to send all my scores up to the October test? Will I still be able to blind-send my Nov. scores?

Yes, making Cornell a free send on your Nov test means Nov scores and prior scores will be sent when Nov scores come out but nothing will be sent before that. You have thus far sent nothing unless way back when you were applying for the October test you put Cornell in as one of your free sends for that test, in which case Cornell has been sent Oct and prior scores. Absent that, Cornell takes SAT IIs from Nov test date but you have not yet sent an SAT, and thus send Oct and prior scores now for the $10 fee regular delivery (you do not need to rush send for Cornell).

Sorry what I wrote was difficult to read. I think the College Board makes this confusing!

Let’s try again:

You are applying to Cornell ED.

They are going to start looking at your application…in theory…any time after Nov. 1.

If you do nothing…and just wait til College Board sends scores in late Nov…Cornell will not have your Oct. SAT or Nov. subject tests until late Nov.

Is that okay?

Cornell website says okay on Nov. subject test.

Cornell website says they want Oct. SAT.

I think you need to order a paid report of your Oct. SAT score to be sent to Cornell now.

I think you also need to call Cornell on Monday, tell them you ordered it, ask them if you need to pay rush. I think they will say, “no,” but you will feel better for having confirmed it.

If you haven’t hit “send” on your Common App, be sure to add a self-report of that Oct. score.

As for your four free reports already set up to go in late Nov., don’t delete Cornell from this order because they won’t get that Nov. subject test if you do!
