Sent wrong teacher recommendation - help!

Now I know that I shouldn't have waited until the last minute... I sent the Common App teacher recommendation request to a teacher who did not teach me an academic subject, and he's already submitted it. Is there any way to remove his or request that it not be submitted? I've sent it to three schools, all of whom require at least one "academic subject" teacher rec.
Please help! The deadline is today and I cannot believe that I did this.
Will the colleges accept this (I don't think so)? If they do, does it look bad on me? He is an English teacher, too, but taught me Theatre.

First off - I am not a college admissions rep, only a parent whom has gone through the process recently.

Next, consider leaving that recommendation attached with your App as an “additional” rec (like a character reference, for example), then go back to school next week and try to get that recommendation from the teacher you originally intended (who actually taught you a course) and basically ask them a favor to get that recommendation sent out next week. So when this whole thing has run its course in a few weeks, you’d have 2 recommendations with your App, which isn’t a bad thing - more for the schools to read about you anyway.

Consider contacting the admissions reps at these three schools (which I assume you already met or know their email addresses at least) and update them about your situation, see what they say, at the very least it would show your conscientious enough about the App process to follow up with them in the first place, and its possible they’ll set your App aside until that correct recommendation arrives, which would them make your App “complete”. Maybe you can even politely ask them to do that up front.

Or you can always ask your H.S. guidance counselor to help you out, perhaps they can contact the school directly - which is their job to do, anyway, for other parts of the admissions process. If you’re not comfortable contacting the school, why can’t the guidance counselor do that?

Good luck. And at least you learned a lesson of not waiting until the last minute. :-)

Thanks very much! I’ve been freaking out - I already paid for two of the three, and I don’t want to mess anything else up… I feel like an idiot for waiting this long. I’ll be sure to do that as soon as school’s back. Dunno why I thought break would be a good time to do these.
