Did anyone else apply for the marketing internships for the Global Corporate Leadership Program?

Well now I’m starting to worry. . . I applied 10/31 for corporate finance and haven’t received so much as an email since my “thank you for your submission” automated email.

For anyone who has had them, how did the in-person interviews go? What were the type of questions they asked? Any case/accounting questions?

2nd round deadlines are almost here… just curious… are the optional essays really optional? Ie. is it going to hurt me that I don’t have a long list of extracurricular activities past my resume + no significant extenuating circumstances?

So many questions…no answers. No one cares anymore =(

I have my interview Tomorrow in Houston for Corp. Finance. Does anyone who went through the in-person interview process have any tips/words of wisdom?

Anything will be much appreciated.

How was the in-person?

hello guys,

i have went through all the interview process. but let me start from the begining. I applied for the sales and trading program on 11/27. I did my phone interview on dec 4th. During this interview, they will ask you questions about the markets and how did you about SEO, do you invest in the markets, whats your major in school. SO STAY UPDATED ON THE MARKET

I had my in-person interview on Dec 10th. Since i currently go to school in NYC, it was quick. It will be two people who will interview you. There are the questions they will ask you:
- Opinion about the US other other markets, do you invest in equities and other securities
- Opinion about the US dollar and where it is going
- Are you passionate about finance
- Do you have any current experience in finance like working for a financial institution.

And last they will ask you if you have any questions for them, SO you better come up with at least 2 questions to ask them because it will look dumb on your part if you don’t have any.

After the interview, like 3 hours later, I got a email from the Sales and Trading program director wanting to meet with me. We met on monday dec 14th at a barnes and nobles in midtown manhattan and we talked alot about trading and why i choose it and my strategies and my background and my goals in the future. SO THAT IT! i dont know what else is going to happen

If you have any more questions for me, email me at mifabanwo@yahoo.com since it seems i have went the farest in the interview process in this thread. And dont forget to send a THANK YOU LETTER to all you interviewer, ask for their business card if you dont know their emails

i haven’t heard anything back. applied in Oct. don’t know what is going on @@…

1st round interviews started mid-November and ended December 12th. If you haven’t heard back from them, they are probably pooling you with the second round applicants to reconsider your candidacy.

Has anyone actually gotten an offer yet (for corporate finance in particular)? If so, when was your in-person interview?

Hey just a update!

So the sales and trading program director calls me today after meeting with him about a week and half ago and tell me that my interview with him was great and my performance was good.

He then told i was invited to a event on jan 29th where we get to meet with Exec’s of the companies that partners wit SEO. So I GUESS IM IN!

Good Luck to the rest of the you.

congrats magicmike!!

Hey all, I also applied for the Sales and Trading program. I have a good GPA (greater than 3.5) at a target, lots of community service and good extracurriculars. For all intents and purposes, my experience so far throughout the application process has been the exact same as magicmike. The only difference in time was that I applied October 26th, and was just informed by the program director of the Jan 29th event yesterday (Dec 23rd).

The time frame for the phone and in person interview though was the same, and they asked me all the same questions as magicmike, except they also asked me to estimate how many Nike running shoes are sold each year in the US.

One discrepancy though between me and magicmike is that the program director told me that I would most likely be accepted into the program, and that this event was part of the additional interviews/steps of the application process that they mention in the webinars. Now I may have misheard when he said I most likely would be accepted, and he may have just said I was accepted, maybe you can clarify that though magicmike (or any other posters).

If anyone has any questions, feel free to private message me or post on here. Or if anyone can add any additional info on the process and what this event on the 29th exactly is, message/post too.

Hi, I’m currently a freshmen in college and I’m about to apply for the SEO-U program, does anyone if everyone gets accepted into that? Or do they still pick who gets to learn the material online? Also does anyone have any recommendations for the program preference because as of right now I’m not sure what I really want to choose.

jroutt, if you don’t mind, can you tell me how you answered the nike question? Thanks

Hey jroutt

He kind of said the same thing but he also told me I shouldn’t worry anymore about the process that they all love me and my performance was great.

I think the event on jan 29th is going to be a networking event which involve probably just talking to these people and learning more about SEO.

I had my interview on the 16th for S&T as well but in Texas! I hope i get it! jroutt are you NYC as well? and where is this event on the 29th taking place?

Watch the webinars on SEO. I had the same problem both with figuring out what exactly each division in I-banking does, and why one might be better than another when I was a sophomore, and they basically cleared up all my misconceptions. Each one lasts like 45 minutes, but they’re very accurate (based on anecdotal evidence). I answered the nike question kind of poorly in retrospect, but I guess it worked for them. I won’t go into detail how I answered the question per se, but suffice it to say, the best way to answer any question in which you are asked to estimate something you couldn’t possibly be expected to know is to guesstimate while walking through your thought process as to how you got to that number. If that isn’t clear, check out the blog, managementconsulted.com, which offers a lot of useful tips for consulting-related interviews specifically, but that are also applicable to any finance or even any job in general that you may be applying for.

magicmike:

That’s a good sign, he basically said the same to me as well. Should we just expect that we’ve been accepted to the program? I can’t imagine this networking event could be used to objectively determine how qualified a candidate we are.

I go to school in Philadelphia, but I interviewed in New York, and I was told the event takes place in New York as well. How did your interview go? And was it on the 16th of December? Second round?

i thought it went pretty well. the interview was a lot more relaxed than i thought it would have been. it was in-person second/final round interview in Texas. Today is officially the 2 week mark.

do they normally tell you within two weeks if you are in or not…mcheng15 i interviewed in houston on the 16th. the 30th was my two week mark as well. Is it a bad sign that I havent heard anything yet?

mcheng:

Congrats man. I was also surprised by how relaxed my interview was.

rtalati:
I definitely would not say there is a specific time frame that they follow. I had my in person in New York before Thanksgiving, and didn’t hear from them until Dec 23rd, more than a month later. I wouldn’t be too worried, especially you Houston kids; I would imagine they’d have a different event for you guys somewhere nearby since it seems it would be a big burden to expect you guys to fly out to NYC for one day.
