SEO Career Program 2010

any corporate finance round 2’s hear back yet?!! :/

Anyone else here apply to the Global Corporate Leadership Program?

Hey guys,

Just got invited to the assessment day on Feb. 26th. Anybody else get in? Anyone have some advice if you already went to the one at the end of January?

To all of you still waiting for SEO’s reply, cheer up. A friend of mine just had her phone screen today, so there might still be hope for you. Thanks for any help

I sent in my app on Saturday. I’m waiting to hear back and hoping that they still have spots open.

crosses fingers

i wanted to say it was a pleasure meeting you guy at last friday s&t assessment day. it was fun and challenging at the same time.

@ojsbklyn89 - i wish i was you because i am about to give you some GOOD INFO! But just do as the email said which is stay updated with all the markets (bonds, forex, equities, commodities) and also know whats going on in other global markets.

Barclays, JPMorgan, BAC, Citigroup, and UBS were all present at the event except Goldman (don’t know why). There will b 3 interviews with 2 representatives from the each company interviewing. Don’t try to memorize the company profile, their stock price, CEO (We all did that) because they are not going to ask you that. They just want to know who you are and where you are coming from and why you are interested in Sales & Trading. Just be confident and THINK before you speak. Then there will be a networking event where you get to speak to the recruiters and THAT IT!

And just a update, Received a call from Barclays and Bank of America Merrill Lynch for a in person 1 hour interview at their HQ’s this friday. I feel kinda bad because i got a Leg up since I live and go to school in New York

Hey guys I got invited up to Feb 26th S&T Assessment. Does that mean I am “in” SEO and will receive an offer regardless of how well or poorly i interview with partner firms.

Basically what if no partner firms want me.

Thanks guys

To everyone still applying:

For SEO in general, the interviews are basically exactly like regular on campus recruiting interviews, except harder. By that I mean, they do a lot of stress testing, and also (from my point of view) more actively check that you’ve been following the markets and financial news. In no interview will they just throw out random questions. If you are genuinely interested in whatever program you apply for, and aren’t just willy-nilly applying, it should be a breeze for you.

Also, do not be discouraged about how long it takes for SEO to get back to you. While I’ve heard that for second and third rounds, they are much quicker in getting back to people, after my second round interview they didn’t get back to me until almost a month later, so be patient guys.

To S&T people who were invited to the assessment day:

All you need to do to prepare for it is to follow the instructions that were e-mailed to you. In my e-mail, they said that I needed to form opinions and create pitches across all asset classes, as well as keeping up with the markets. They also mentioned that it was a round robin interview format. They don’t lie to you; just follow their instructions.

The assessment day is exactly what it’s called, an assessment day. During these last interviews, representatives from their partner firms will interview you and decide whether or not they want to take you. It’s basically a superday at any other firm. Yea, your chances are very good now that you’ve made it that far, but you’re certainly not guaranteed a job.

To prior SEO people (or anyone who has the answer):

When does SEO get back to us about which partner firm we’ve been placed with? It says on the website that we find out in May, but I feel like that’s a little late.

@johnsmith0229330 No your not In. I thought so too when I received the email back in January. You are still going to have another interview with the company that picks you on assessment day which is what we are going through right now who had our assessment last week.

anyone know how the odds stack up on assessment day. 50% get placed other 50% don’t …thats what i have heard.

anyone else hear anything?

Hello there,

I applied for the SEO 1st round, did a really good interview, and I have been placed on the waiting list as of January 31st. I have a question, I am currently study abroad, and I need some time spread to buy the ticket and make reservations to be on time, if I get into the program. The waiting list indicated that I will get a final response on March 31st, the latest. What should I do?? The letter stated that if I needed a response prior to the deadline of March 31st, to please let them know in an e-mail, but do you think that is putting too much pressure in them? Will they just reply saying no, or what do you think? I am really confused on this one guys…

If it’s been over a week since I applied (3rd round) and I haven’t heard back yet, should I contact SEO to inquire as to the status of the application?

I got offered a first round interview today, but the sign up for my area is full for now. Should I wait for it to clear up or sign up in NY? The airfare is expensive.

do slots usually open up pretty frequently?

Got an in-person interview today, pretty excited! Can anyone tell me what questions they got asked recently?

Jester, which program are you going for?

^ Corp. finance, have you done any interviews?

I’m hoping someone can answer my previous question…

Eternitygoddess:

Read through the rest of the thread. I mentioned before how after my second round, SEO took a month to get back to me. They didn’t forget about you. They’re a non-profit that has a handful of people sorting through thousands of applicants, so it’s reasonable to expect that they will take several weeks to get back. I don’t think it’s really indicative of how they feel about your application/interviews either, so don’t worry too much about it.

To Jester: I haven’t personally yet, but I’ve spoken to a few people that have, unfortunately none that were corp. finance.

To Eternity: I 2nd what jroutt said, but depending on which program you applied to, you may not find that much luck at this time…as they are already making decisions and placing people in programs. Applicants of the 1st and 2nd round are safe, the 3rd round isn’t…I’ve also heard that SEO hasn’t received nearly as many applications this year as they have in the past…so this adds to my unfavorable assumption yet I’m of course not willing to close off all hope for you…I just think chances may be slim

Hey guys anyone what the odds are on assessment day? thanks

Hello!
People… has anyone heard back yet in corporate finance???
I am going crazy here… I only read in this forum about S&T students…
