waitlisted

me too then. i guess everyone who hadn't gotten an immediate rejection nor a phone call all got waitlisted.
^ although you already got an offer at ML! you're perfectly fine, unlike the rest of us

didn't you say you had an offer at S&P?

heck! I'll rather do that than ML!

waitlist letter-

Dear XXXX:

Thank you for applying to the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity Career Program. At this time the Admission Committee has not yet made a final decision on your application. Please know that based on your strong interview you are a very competitive applicant and still in consideration for a summer internship position.

You have been placed on the waitlist due to the limited amount of positions available for sophomore applicants. We are currently trying to determine the needs and requests of our partner firms in order to assess the amount of sophomore positions available. You should continue to check your application status online to confirm that we have received all required official transcripts and recommendations.

We also encourage you to continue your industry research and notify us of any changes in your status or any offers that you have received from SEO partner firms. A further decision on your application will be made by the close of our final round notification, March 22, 2007. We appreciate your patience and will contact you with updates on your application status.

Sincerely,
XXXX

I think I'm gonna cry---- I can't wait for that long!

umm yes but S&P is kinda boring... all i'll be doing is research. and it's still going to be as difficult getting my foot into an ibank :( . but seriously, good luck at Merril Lynch and hopefully they won't work you to death =)

^ lol guess there is zero hope for me since I applied to Goldman, JPMorgan, and Barclays through our school's e-recruiting, and I didn't even get an interview!

S&P here i come...

lol...I hope they don't too---

I just really wanted seo's training- their programs are mind-blowing---I hate this---I have never been a lucky waitlist person so this is going to be a really painful experience-

and I was hoping SEO would place me with Blackrock since I applied for asset management and got ML-- oh wells!

i got waitlisted too.
whatever, i am going to accept the other offer since they need a decision. oh well maybe next year!

i stil haven't heard back at all. i'm a junior, so i dunno if i'll be "qualified" for that waitlist. wat da hell???? i want a decision now!!

you probably got in I'm thinking-

Does anybody know any sophomores that got accepted??

Hey guys, I'm a frosh that just got accepted for Research Analysis. Well, I'm a frosh in that it's my first year of college but I have 2nd semester soph. standing.

Sorry to hear the waitlist stories but I'm assuming that the quality of CC applicants is strong as usual. For the record, I am from a Tier 3 school and have not taken any courses in biz or acccounting etc. I am a declared econ major with a 3.52 cumulative GPA and a 4.0 major GPA. I think what put me over the top are:
1)SAT scores: I have a 1600 and 2400
2)Essay: Spent hours and really conveyd interest
3)Interview: I was able to (to the best I'd ever been able to) integrate qualitative and quantitative assessments.

Good luck to all! I don't know if I'm GUARANTEE going to take the spot though because I just got word that I'm basically admitted to CalTech's SURF program. I'm still going to apply to some NSF-REU programs to check out what my options are.

A lot depends on your concentration, obviously getting into I-Banking is the hardest.

Well corpfin definitely seems the most exciting and that's why its the most popular. I'm not sure it's the "hardest" to get into though, there might be more slots availabe, although I'm sure the competition for corpfin is fierce :(

Anyway, congrats dearsiryes!!! Way to go! I guess SEO really does look for at SAT a lot. While I did fine on that, I spent literally 10 minutes in total for on both essays and my interview was horrible. heh I guess that's what did me in. Anyway, good luck dearsiryes and congrats again ! Good luck on your transfer process too if you are still planning on that.

fellowwaitlistees,

directly from an seo career program official,

"if you are on the waitlist, you shud be celebrating because chances are that you'll most likely get in..."

so dpa et al wipe your tears, be grateful and wait with bated breath for the glorious March 22!

How did you find that out??? Did you call and ask them or did an alumni tell you??

Great news! Except how can they expect us to wait that long? I don't think I can hold off other interviews/offers until then. I would love to do SEO, except I am not willing to reject other offers for the possibility of my not getting anything! S&P gave me 2 weeks to come up with a decision, and another company already gave me a 1 week extension. March 22nd is another 2 months and out of the question. If I don't hear back from them in a couple of days, I'm going to call, and if they still can't give me a decisive answer I'll have to withdraw my application :(.

Seriously, i can't be the only one stuck in this situation! What are you guys doing?

yeah, March 22nd is quite the wait. Personally, I would go with the other offers.

Maybe thats why most people on the waitlist get in, because of people that are on the list with other offers are forced to accept or risk having nothing. Anyway if I had a solid offer I would take it because that is a lot better than the risk of nothing.

dpa: I'll say wait for a week...if you don't hear anything from seo, then accept your other offers...
the point is that seo waitlists aren't as hopeless as admissions waitlists at harvard and other ivies...you don't stand a 100% chance, but you stand a really good chance of getting in- and they said the truth...they are only trying to figure out how many spots they have for sophomores, it's not like they know how many spots yet, and they are likely to get a larger than expected number of openings from partner firms- perosnally, I'm remaining positive

besides, even if you get seo after accepting your s&p offer from instance, you can still rescind your s&p offer. You are on a freaking waitlist- how are you supposed to know if you'll get in--- I remmeber that my schools understood during my college application process-- s&p will understand too if you have to turn them down afterwards-
