Seo?

how does SEO work? Do they guarantee you an internship, or can someone walk me through a successful example?

They guarantee you an internship. You apply and interview at their headquarters (2 rounds; 1 via phone and 1 on site) and you get notified of acceptance. Later they determine your firm. You are not required to interview with the firm.

Pros:
Great mentorship/networking opportunities
Events throughout the summer for participants
Good training before the summer
Noble goals especially if you want to increase diversity on wall street
easier to secure internship with the banks themselves
Especially ideal for sophomores or non-targets who have difficult time securing interviews via on-campus

Cons:
Often looked down upon by others because they think it's the "easy way in"
You don't get to choose the firm(unless you some applied via regular directly and was accepted)
Summer events may detract time from experience

in the end it's a good program for diversities who need the extra boost to get a wall street internship. just be prepared for the elitism you may face from regular interns. i myself was waitlisted sophomore year (eventually found anoither internship) and chose not to apply junior year (got the investment banking internship on my own). it's a choice you'll have to make.

Definitely look down upon in IB internship. I've heard first hand of groups being labeled the "SEO" crowd. SEO and INROADs are for wimps.

I've met plenty of people who have gotten internships at the best banks, yet they have been rejected by SEO.

pardon my ignorance, but what is SEO?

A back door into banking.

backdoor or not you still get an internship suck that

What am I supposed to be sucking, sefago?

your p***k. don't take it offensively, I say it to everyone. Hope you are aguy

we'll I'll suck that, but you still suck if you need SEO.

its not about backdoor or not, its about getting in.

furthermore, with the way the markets are this year, everyone should be looking at all opportunities, including SEO

^ That was what I was thinking. I am not into investment banking anyway too intellectually undemanding. I always feel the need to think

Seems like we got some sour grapes in this thread. Why is everybody bashing SEO, Inroads etc.??????????????

Why the hell do you think? It's a form of affirmative action. It's important to also note that I am a minority and feel no reason to need "assistance". Also just in case any aren't aware, SEO and INROADS is not just for IBanking. Many pathetic minorities use SEO/INROADS for jobs that are not difficult to obtain without further assistance.

^I was waiting for Dawgie to say that. Ignorant people are so predictable

"pathetic minorities" wow strong language elitist

Okay high school kid, what exactly were you waiting for me to say? Ignorant, try again.

Strong language elitist, because I'm calling minorities that need affirmative action pathetic? I don't know how far from the truth that is honestly. It's a strong controversial topic, yet I'm called ignorant for it? Grow up child.

yeah sounds elitist. Seo is not a backdoor or something- they identify talent and use it as a form of networking- As I mentioned I am not doing Seo nor investment banking so I am not biased and probably have better things to do.

Calling people pathetic regardless of who they are is elitist. You are no better than anyone because you get better grades or are wealthier than or attend a better school than anyone. Because you would probably meet someone better than you that could refer to you as pathetic and you probably would not like it.

I am not in high school although I am 18. I am a junior in college thank you.
