DePauw in Indiana requires the FAFSA and their form. Their form is fairly basic. They are known to be somewhat generous with aid. Butler in Indiana uses FAFSA only. Hanover in Indiana has a new program where they will meet 100% of your need as determined by FAFSA. The requirements are low--3.3 GPA, top 30% of class and 24 ACT/1050 SAT. This award was sent to my S specifically as an Academic Honors Diploma (Indiana) recipient. However, they also might apply it to similar diplomas from other states. Receiving an Academic Honors Diploma in Indiana is not overly strenuous.

What really pumps up the number for the PROFILE schools is that there are schools that give 100% of need. I've yet to see a FAFSA only school to do so. But a more thorough analysis would be to see what % of need is met with grant money. I've heard of some very loan heavy packages from schools that brag that they give 100% of need.

We had a financial offer from Baylor which, with merit, ended up being the same out of pocket as our UC offer. Perhaps if there had been no merit, it would have been different, but at the time, it was virtually the same out of pocket for us.
