Separated vs. Divorced for CSS/FAFSA?

<p>My parents are still in the process of getting divorced, but they are separated. The thing is, the process for getting the divorce has been stopped. In this case, are they still listed as separated for CSS and FAFSA? Or would they put divorced?</p>

<p>Also, for the non-custodial profile, would my mom include information for "current spouse", or does she not have to since the divorce was partially completed?</p>

<p>How separated are they? Is the intention to never live together again, and to proceed to divorce at some point? Then record them as separated and use one as custodial and the other as non-custodial.</p>
