Separation Workshop

I thought this might be helpful for people who are concerned about separation anxiety and love to make lists.

Last night my daughter's school held a separation workshop for parents and kids. We separated into two groups (one of parents and one of kids) and each group answered the following questions (phrased somewhat differently for each group): What excites you about the prospect of the child going off to college? What worries you about the kid going off to college? What will you miss most? What will you miss least? How can you ease the transition period at home between now and when college begins?

After the two groups got back together, everyone had to answer this question, "What would you like to tell your parents/kid before the lst year of college begins?"

Wow, and in high school? They are a very caring institution. The most our HS has, is a workshop for incoming seniors on how to apply to colleges. Congrats searchingavalon, you chose a great school for your daughter!

p.s - and a great college if I may so myself! :)

Thanks for the contratulations, Achat, though they are undeserved. My daughter made the choices herself, though of course I strongly supported them. And yes, she chose a great college. :)
