September 2011 ACT Discussion and Socres

@jd989898

are you talking about number 59 on the math section? the -x^5 thing?

I think i chose all of them are the same(E i think?)…they are basically the reverse of each other…so it still covers all x values.

but it asked about the positive and negative impacts of lace on the economy. if fishermen are selling laces for themselves, how does that benefit the entire economy?

The answer to x^2 +M= 0 was 1, correct?

^That’s what I put.

Dang, I think I got the tree one wrong. :|

More disposable income=more demand for other things

anyone else remember what they put for the shakira distance between the other girls house one?

For the reading passage about the lady from st kitts (sorry if someone asked this already) was the connection b/w her grandma and the civil rights movement that they shared an important date in 1955?

^That’s what I put.

I just used distance formula between the two points. Think I got 7 or something.

I put 6 for the shakira one. I used the distance formula.

@eeforme: It wasn’t 1. It could’ve been 1, 4, 9, or 16, so the answer’s 4. That was the one with integers under 20, right?

@jd–

4.47 rounds down to 4.

For the one with graphing inequalities, I think I remembered which way to shade, but not 100%.

Was the answer A? :)

I just drew a right triangle. I can’t remember if it was 6 or 7 for shakira’s house

@Marinebio444 - I think you made the same mistake that I made. The equation says (x^2)+M=0 not minus M… I put all of them, but the answer is A because the only number that works is 0.

i got 6 for shakira and salt spray for why the trees were good and no b/c they briefly mentioned the economy and brief but usually silent, wbu everyone?

@ Timex1649

That is what I put

What was the answer to the question when it asked for the distance between the points on a line? (Not the houses)

Yes it was A for inequality graphing

For the Hitchcock one I changed it to “brief and silent” or whatever.

Even so, the negative and positive effects of laces was never mentioned.
