^yeah thats what i meant

eeforme: Yes, her uncle led a strike, but that doesn’t pertain to her. She read the newspaper, followed it closely, and waited to move when the segregation movement found success.

why would -1 be the slope? i mean… i’m not that mathematically advanced and i just remember that you have to do the opposite reciprocal and negate it to get the slope. i don’t understand why it would be -1

well -1/x was one of the answer choices and that’s what I put, but they could have asked for the line, i dont remember :/

that’s what i put too… i wish i could remember what they were asking for :'c

Graph y=x and y=-x. There perpendicular. End of story.
I still think it’s the plantation movement, segregation was only mentioned when she emigrated to the u.s.

slope of y=mx + b is the coefficient “m”

so y=x is the same as y=1(x) +0
so the slope =1 or 1/1, reciprical is still 1, and the negative is -1

anyone remember which student had the biggest difference between mean and median in their grades?

Possibly Paulette?

^i put the first student from the top

It was the first student. I think that was the name?

AndrewCubs’ explanation is right. The slope of a perpendicular line is the negative reciprocal of the slope of the corresponding line it is intersecting. In the case of y = x, the slope is 1. Thus, y = 1x. The negative reciprocal of 1 (1/1) is -1 (-1/1). Just as if it was y = 2x [m= (2/1)], the perpendicular slope would be y = -1/2x [m = (-1/2)].

Anyone remember what the sides of the triangle that they gave you were for the parallelogram problem? If not, was the answer choice either a B or C?

yup same here i got the student on top…

anyone remember any more semi-hard math questions?

on the passage about the theater, were kids more excited, less excited, or equally lacking interest?

^ somewhat interested

i put slightly more excited

Was the answer choice B? I found myself overthinking too much on that question so I just guessed…

@jd yeah, it said in the text that they were interested for the first 10mins

thanks syndekit- here’s hoping that you don’t get a job where you have to work with people, because you obviously suck at it! c;

anyone have a basis for how harsh the essay grading is? I got a 10 on my SAT essay and i wrote 1.25 pages. This morning I wrote about 2.45 pages and it was a fairly good essay. Do you think I can expect an 11-12?
