***SEPTEMBER 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

@tina23 SAMEEEEEE

Was I the only one who got a lot of D/J on the English test?

sooo when do the test scores come out? Anyone here a senior?

Hopefully the scores are released before the October late registration deadline (which is in 3 weeks)…

General Reflection:
Senior, first and last time on ACT. 2210 on SAT (~33 on ACT)
English: mehhh. Ok.
Math: harder than i expected. Got 2 questions wrong already facepalm
Reading: very decent, time crunch tho
Science: l o l
Essay: a written history about the Civil Rights movement

I didn’t realize they had changed the essay format. Last year, our school was asked to be guinea pigs for a trial of the new essay style and we all got that type of essay, so I was familiar with it thankfully.

@tina23 oh :frowning:

@basedchem EVERYTHING you said is literally me!! I’m a senior, SAT score 2210, i know i got 2 math questions wrong already, reading was good but the time limit rushed me, science i didn’t even read the last passage bc of time, and my essay was mainly about the civil rights movement too!! very weird coincidence, lol

English was relatively easy for me, maybe a 34-36.
Math was harder than many practice tests, and I finished with 20 minutes to spare (math person) so probably 36.
Reading was okay, finished on time, maybe 34-36.
Science was okay, finished on time, maybe 34-36.

I think I did good on this one, because usually I miss a lot in Reading and some in Writing. The essay was pretty easy as well, given that I had practice on the new type of essay. Just hoping for a lenient Reading and Science curve.

Just take a moment, everyone. (@2:23 there’s some special guests) :wink:

wow I’m so disappointed in me. I practiced so much and felt well prepared but I constantly ran out of time today…
and as a person who has never had a single science lesson in her life, so many knowledge based questions on the science part were the culmination.

Looks like everyone wrote about the Civil Rights movement for the essay. Being black, I thought i’d be the only one. Good job guys lmao B)

Oops, I did not mention the Civil Rights Movement. O.o I made up a bunch of BS history for my essay… as usual. But I really connected them well with the perspectives, just like they wanted. :slight_smile:

@basedchem oh god…I wrote about civil rights movement too…specially I mentioned rosa parks…

Gosh damn CC is full of geniuses haha! While all you guys are estimating your scores to be around the 32-34 range here I am thinking I got around the mid/upper 20s, maybe even lower smh.

English: I don’t know how, but my time management was horrible and I ended guessing on around 5-8 questions. I usually finish with a minute or two on practice tests. I did the questions that were easy at first and after going though all 75, I had about 20 left unanswered with like 10ish minutes left. Ashamed to the max.

Math: Started off easy, went through all 60 answering every question I knew then went back to finish up 10 or so questions. Guessed on about 3.

Reading: The humanities and natural science were fairly easy but I was taking up about 9 minutes each so I had to rush through the dual passage and social science ones.

Science: At this time, on the back of my mind I knew I did horrible already but I still tried to keep a positive attitude. I went through all of the questions, guessed on about 5 questions. It was alright, very confusing though.

Essay: This one was actually very simply and wrote a lot and used several events I remembered from APUSH and World a history to back up my statements. Hopefully I get a good score.

All in all, it was a joy ride tbh. From hardest to easiest I would honestly say: ENGLISH -> SCIENCE -> READING -> MATH. Since I’m limited to colleges near my location and their requirements aren’t high, I just wanted to see what I would get on this test. Heck I would be happy if I got around the 26-28 range haha.

We all mentioned Rosa Parks lmaooooo

I put a little LGBT movement in there to spice it up

omg that’s exactly what i wrote about too… D:

Woah, everyone wrote about civil rights movement…if I had known that I would have written about women suffrage movement. Lol
I think everyone who took SAT would probably relate this essay topic to challenging authority–> civil rights movement, scarlet letter, blah blah blah the list goes on and on s/o to SAT peeps

omg i wanna talk about specific problems sooo bad!! (yes, I know its not allowed)
