lol I wrote about the Civil Rights Movement in my essay too! these essay scorers are about to read thousands of versions of the same essay
i mentioned civil rights movement as well HAHAHA
Please lol civil rights wasn’t all about Rosa Parks. What about the Black Panthers? The NAACP? Desegregation? If you centered the CRM around Rosa Parks, you’re missing the point.
No one said it was all about Rosa Parks lol
Wow I didn’t realize how unoriginal I would be by writing about the Civil Rights Movement… Although I only briefly mentioned it one paragraph rather than basing my entire essay on it. I feel bad for those who score the essays since they’re gonna have to read a couple 1,000 Civil Rights essays…
I feel like the only person who didn’t write about the Civil Rights Movement - instead I took a more ethical standpoint and reasoned that everybody has different ideas of what is “bad” and “good” so people acting on those ideas in a defiant manner could potentially be dangerous.
I also mentioned the movie “The Purge” in my essay bc I couldn’t think of examples oops
damn, I see people saying that the science section was easy… I don’t know why but I found all the other sections easy and science difficult… and I usually get 34-36 on Science. I’m expecting 30 on this science section
yeah im glad i didnt base my whole essay on civil rights movement i just mentioned rosa parks and mlk very briefly and i used a wide variety of i guess “evidence” i used like @isabelly212 said taking an ethical stand point. i actually used a lot of logos in my essay instead of concrete examples
I really loved learning about the BPP. Their my favorite civil right group by far. But I assumed white people in Iowa were gonna read it so I wasn’t boutta mention all that. (A lot of older white people think the Panthers are a black supremacy group HAHA) @basedchem
@isabelly212 OMG HAHAHAH I CANT BELIEVE THIS I MENTIONED THE PURGE TOO IM CRYING XDD
@isabelly212 that was mainly what I wrote about since that was the position I argued, but since the high scoring essay examples almost always have history references, I briefly mentioned “separate but equal” as an example of a problematic law
@divinery HAHAH THAT’S TOO FUNNY!!! At least our essays will be a lil different than the civil war ones
On the little survey they give you I put that I wasn’t satisfied with the testing center because there were sports teams making noise outside. Will anything happen to me or my test because I put that?
@viola627 nope, it’s more so that they can gauge student reaction and comfort to see if they will continue to administer tests at that location
@isabelly212 hahah great minds think alike! x)
English: I thought it was super easy but a few had me second guessing myself.
Math: It started out so easy but by the last page or so it was very difficult for me. I paced myself well in anticipation for the harder questions but after getting stumped on a few there was no way I could do each of those in a minute and I guessed.
Reading: I didn’t think it was particularly difficult but I was running out of time quickly. I didn’t answer two of them because time caught up to me.
Science: I may be in the minority here but I thought this was really difficult. It may be because I didn’t study for this section as well as I should have. I found the CH questions and the torque (?) questions challenging. (not sure if something like this is against the rules, if so let me know)
The essay wasn’t too bad but like everyone else here I mentioned the civil rights movement. I think I did it a little more vaguely than others here, though. I also mentioned some more current issues so I hope the reader doesn’t disagree with my opinion and grade harshly. I’m not sure if I analyzed all of the perspectives like they wanted but otherwise it was a decent essay.
i was thinking of doing the kim davis situation in my essay but i didn’t want my readers to get offended even though i wasn’t going to totally support one side or another on the kim davis case
I’m so so so nervous for my scores because (from reading this thread) everybody seems to think that a few sections were difficult, but I found three of them (the english, reading and science) laughably easy and the math absolutely brutal, even by the 20th question or so. Does anyone else feel this way?
