***SEPTEMBER 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

would the ACT ever begin a sentence with the word “Because”.

@divinery I almost included her too!

@viola627 were you at Springfield high school too?

@Hermit9 LOL cool!

why are some people’s profile pictures covered with like jail bars?

Because they committed enough violations to earn them. Don’t ask me - it’s the way the website works.

@isabelly212 I agree with you. I thought the English, reading and science were pretty average, I even finished the science and reading pretty comfortably, unlike in June. Math on the other hand… that was rough. I got a 36 on the June one and I remembered people saying it was harder than usual so I felt confident going into it today, but wow was I wrong…

I’m handing out warnings left and right on this thread. It’s getting very tiring. I’m about to start banning people outright. You guys have been given enough warnings by now.

@16jpatel I got 2 warnings and now this happened… oops
*PSA: don’t even post a single word from the answer choices or you will go to jail haha

@Alpha101 Nope lol :stuck_out_tongue:

what can we talk about… what is allowed

@seahawks1212 not much other than sitting in a silent state of anxiety for the next 13 days

@viola627 lol, well at the place I took it at there was like really load music playing outside for the English section. They only got it to be turned off after like 15 minutes. And during the essay section The fire alarm started freaking ringing!!! I started freaking out, my gut literally dropped. But then the staff stopped. It only rang like 2 or 3 times but, damn it was scary.

I took the June 2015 test as a simulation exam and I got a 35.

out of the 10 or so practice tests I’ve taken I’ve NEVER had to guess on more than 1-2 questions for math or reading. I’m incredibly upset because I’m pretty sure I guessed on a good 5-6 math questions, and basically the whole 4th passage of Reading.

Aiming for another 35 but it looks like that isn’t going to happen. Already got 2 math questions wrong anyways…

English: Pretty good. I practiced a lot for this section and felt prepared for the most part.

Math: JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL this part was really rough. Usually I have to sit there and try to think through how to do a few problems because the last time I took a math that’s tested on the ACT was first semester freshman year so like three years ago, but at most I finish with one problem not being done. Today I finished with four. I might have to retake because of this. Seriously hoping there’s HEAVY curve and this isn’t just some new sadistic way of making the ACT harder.

Reading: Pretty okay. Usually this is my best subject but I had a bit of a time crunch near the end and had to make quick judgements.

Science: Rad. I think maybe I had a better time of it because I have a really good science background (took/taking all 6 of my schools science APs) so most of the topic they tested on were familiar and I could just glance at the graphs but who knows.

Writing: Felt good about it. Also wrote about the civil war and suffrage. Looking back I wish I had used some more obscure APUSH examples but eh oh well overall I think I did okay.

I’m really hoping for a 34 this time. Before the test I was thinking a 35 but now I’m not too sure. I got a 33 last time I took it (and if I’d scored one point higher in any of the four sections I would have gotten it smh) so here’s to hoping ACT has some good curves on this one

@jinny11419 how do you know you got 2 math questions wrong?

Yeah the conflicting viewpoints messed me up. I saw it on thee first page and decided to skip it and do it last since they tens to take a long time. But I ran short on time and had to guess on like a lot of the questions for it. I actually hot through the math pretty easy until I hit the the mid 40s. Hi basically worked at a pace of about 30 sec pee question until then so I would have ample time for the rest. The English was actually one hardest ones I taken. But seeing how English is usually a breeze or me, the lowest I’d suspect is a 33. I can nevee tell with science, my scores for it on practice tests were the moat dynamic. Haha, so its either a 33 or like a 26.

@divinery I wrote about that too!!! The only bad thing though, was that I forgot her name, so I just put some lady on the recent news lol! I hope they know who i’m referring too.

Being in Higher Math really screws me over on the ACT, nothing I’ve learned in the past 2 years is even on it. Straight up guessed on like 10 questions :l

@Smythe couldn’t have said it better myself regarding the math section. I really hope that was unintentional and there just happened to be more time consuming and/or hard questions than usual… Hopefully the October one is better than this…
