OK…it’s 10:55 p.m. On September 22. And I’m again getting logged out of this site when I use my back arrow. This hasn’t happens in a couple if weeks.
Why does this issue keep reoccurring?
I wasn’t going to mention it but now that you did, I’ll chime in. Yesterday when I visited CC on two different laptops I found that I had been logged out. I always have “keep me logged in” checked, but CC doesn’t always cooperate. I’d say it happens about once a month, at least.
Hi there…I received some new information regarding the “keep me logged in” option from our tech team. They mentioned it expires after two weeks, and I would assume that means it resets after you log in again (then expires two weeks later, and so on). That would seem to coincide with the once a month frequency mentioned by @patsmom…as well as the “hasn’t happened in a couple of weeks” by @thumper1.
So, if either of you have another logout day sometime during the first or second week of October that would likely confirm this further.
I’ll have to get more information as to the purpose of this two-week expiration. Likely related to security and server resources, though that’s just me trying to make sense at this late hour.
Good to know, Lenitus, thanks for checking. I hope they remove that expiration limit. It seems unnecessary.
I got logged out again today.
The odd thing…I’m not really logged out. If I hit the back arrow again…I’m in.
It’s weird. But I’ll keep an eye on it.
Hmm…that sounds like something different again. So, once you hit the back arrow you can navigate again to other pages without being logged out?
Whenever any of you are logged out of the forum again, can you try visiting <a href=“http://www.collegeconfidential.com”>http://www.collegeconfidential.com</a> to see if you’re still logged in there. You should just be able to click on the CC logo to get there. If you are logged in there you should see your username in the upper right (as you do inside the forums). Thanks!
It’s Friday. I logged back in yesterday…and I’m getting logged out when I use my back arrow…again today. It has not been two weeks.
It’s annoying.
Re: the question in post 5…yes. I hit the back arrow, and am asked to log in again (in the upper right corner…). But if I hit the back arrow a second time, I’m taken back into the forum…logged IN (not yelling…just emphasis). And from there, if I click on things instead of using the back arrow…I’m able to navigate through the site.
Thanks…if you can try the step in #6, too, that would be great. That will provide even more information about this recurring issue.

Significant logout issues today on Firefox. Logged out every time I go to a new page. Sometimes I’m logged in if I click back, sometimes I’m not.

Finally! I got logged out today. I logged back in…and when I used my back arrow, I needed to log in…again.
I hit the CC logo in the top left corner of my iPad screen…and poof. It took me to the main CC page…where I was logged in!
So why did I get logged out if I was logged in??
@Thumper1, I got logged out again yesterday, exactly two weeks after it happened to me in September. Looks like what Lenitus and the tech team said is what is happening. I wish they would eliminate that 2 week expiration thing.

October 7…I logged back in yesterday and at least once today. So…two weeks have NOT passed since my last log in.
When I use the back arrow, I’ve been logged out a few times (well…I’ve been asked to log in).
BUT oddly, when I click on a forum…say “financial aid”…I’m logged in…
Something isn’t right.
If I’m logged out, one would think that clicking on a forum would NOT log me back in…but it does.
And this morning…October 8. When I went to the forum, I was put on the main home page…where I was NOT logged in. On my iPad, in the lower left corner, there is a yellow bar…go to forum. I clicked on that and poof…was taken to the message board forums…where I was logged in.
I did not have to out my username or password in at all.
What??
Thank you…your last two posts provide fantastic detail. I’ll make sure Justin sees them so he can communicate back to the team. Truthfully, I don’t quite grasp the inner workings of visit sessions myself.
Added info. So I get to that main screen, and in the upper right corner it says “log in” and when I tap on that, I’m totally logged in. I do not need to type my username and password.
What is the point in having me log in…when I’m logged in?
I did not notice anything related to logout but I am really annoyed by the ATT ad since yesterday.
