<p><strong>Please note, this is NOT a thread for discussing questions. This is a thread for discussing the difficulty of the test. Please see the pinned post by @MaineLonghorn at the top of the ACT sub-forum</strong></p>
<p>How did you guys think the test was?</p>
<p>I thought English was pretty average, Math was easier than usual, Reading was slightly harder than usual, and Science was average.</p>
<p>My Observation/Prediction
The English section was similar to the ones in the Red Book (-5 to 7)
The math was a lil bit more difficult then Red Book (-0 to 3)
The new reading was similar to Red Book but the double passage hurt me timewise which affected my scores (-4 to 6).
Science was difficult, generous curve upcoming (-3 to 5)</p>
<p>Is it the first time that the ACT has delivered a double passage?</p>
<p>English: Slightly easier than the red book
Math: Much harder than red book
Reading: 3 of the passages were average except for the dual passage.
Science: Slightly harder than average</p>
<p>@silverdrop Oh ok this was my first time taking the ACT and the Red Book and previous ACT prac tests had no dual passage. That caught me off guard </p>
<p>English: I thought English was pretty straight forward. There were a few questions I didn’t know.
Math: Generally the math questions are super easy from 1 - 30, which can be done in like 15 minutes and get harder with the last questions taking 2-3 minutes each, but this one was more like 50 seconds per question, last question taking 1 minute.
Reading: I actually died here. The first passage, I was like ■■■? The dual passages were meh, in general i doubt I did well here. Anyone know if the dual passages is the new thing? I took the test last spring, and there was a dual passage there too that messed me up. I have that test, I’ll look at the reading curve.
Science: Easy. </p>
<p>English: Easy
Math: Average, with a couple more difficult then usual (in my opinion)
Reading: Harder, but not too bad. Reading is really easy for me; I usually finish with 10-15 minutes to spare, but this time I only had 5
Science: Easy</p>
<p>72 D me to
I do not think test form matters, they are probably just in different order. IE, passage 1 for me might be passage 3 for you. Correct me if Im wrong</p>
<p>@HumNation I may or may not have had 72D as well. As Kevin Spacey would say, “You may very well think that i couldn’t possibly comment.”</p>
<p>Overall, I’d say that:</p>
<p>English: Easier/Average than normal
Math: Harder (sucks that I’ve never learned a stem and leaf graph)
Reading: Decently harder
Science: Slightly harder.</p>
<p>I think the English curve will be normal, math and reading will be more forgiving for 34-36 but then return to normal. Science will be nicer as well (instead of the difference between a 40 and a 39 being 36 vs 34, you may see it being that 39-40 is 36, 38 in 35 and then back to normal).</p>
<p>Edit: Sorry for the curse word, got heated in the moment :(</p>
<p>@HumNation I didn’t find science harder per se, I just found it took more time than normal. So I guess harder but the problems weren’t…if that makes any sense.</p>
<p>english - straightforward as usual, same as always pretty easy
math - a bit more difficult than the red book
reading - i cant comment on this because i always suck at reading because of the time
science - not exactly more difficult but required more time </p>
<p>i would think english is normal, math a bit curved, but a decent reading and science curve</p>
