September: The Worst Month Ever

Does anyone know why the UC system starts so much later than everywhere else?

everyone on quarter system starts around mid to late september. berkeley is on semester and they started a like 2 weeks ago.

yeah it pretty much sucks… but the one positive is our long breaks line up with the end of finals so our breaks are completely stress and work free

so ha semester system!

Also, the fact that being a full-time student in a quarter system tends to stress students out more. (For those that don’t know, quarter semester means everything is compressed into 2-month long courses)

I like the quarter system because I have a short attention span and want something new after 2 months.

yeah i was wondering about it too…

i think ucla starts really late too

UCLA starts a little earlier than us.

But, still, its pretty late.

i think ucla starts the 22nd too. i think everywhere beside berkeley does?

Ohio State: September 21 ([Academic Calendar - University Registrar - The Ohio State University](Academic Calendar - University Registrar - The Ohio State University))

Stanford: September 26 ([Office of the University Registrar - Stanford Academic Calendar, 2011-12 | Student Affairs](http://studentaffairs.stanford.edu/registrar/academic-calendar-1112))

im sure there’s more…i found a bunch of CCs that start in October (they call it “flex start” or something)

In the UC system, Berkeley and Merced are on a semester system, while all other campuses are on a quarter system, meaning school starts on the twenty second.
