Serious Advice Needed

Hello. I was hoping someone could help me with advice. I attended a top 40 university at a state school in Econ B.S. I was dismissed two years ago because of poor grades -below 2.0 (had a personal serious health issue). I've taken care of the issue and have been ever since thinking about going back to school. With the two years time off, I never got a serious interview from any business firms (didn't expect to) and just did some minor clerical/data entry work.

My question is: If I do decide to go back, I'll be entering as a senior. If my grades improve drastically and I graduate, what are my realistic chances of landing a good business firm job- like a trading analyst/trader type job at a hedge fund. Of course my chances are already low to begin with being that my school is a non-target.

How will B-Schools view my past history? (in particular my soph/junior grades which were really low) Do B-schools look at the age when you graduated college? Is there anything that I could do besides basically doing really well on the GMAT? Do the good B-schools look at courses you take if you decide to do them post-college?

I guess all of these questions could apply to future jobs as well.

I would like to add that I would start off at an ibanking job-S&T/equity research etc and then move on to hedge funds.

I think you might be trying to start with a higher job then you should be trying to get. If you re-enter and do well, you can get a job. That job will almost assuredly be a non-analyst/trader job. If you want to prove your desire and diligence, while at school train for the CFA. That'll show people you're not a joke (your GPA is very low). Then in 2-3 years, you can move into an analyst role.
