Hello All!
I am sure this question has been answered before, but I would appreciate as much feedback as you could provide. I was recently accepted into NYU Tisch School of The Arts as a Drama Major. Throughout the last 5 years, I have spent my time acting professionally in Los Angeles. I have taken many classes, ranging from Ivana Chubbuck to Howard Fine, to Casting Director Workshops. My goal is to work in TV/Film, and I have very little interest in Theatre. With that being said, I'd like to know, with your experiences, do you think-feel-know, that I will be learning the same things at Tisch as I have in Los Angeles? I don't want to spend $200,000 on acting classes that I have already learned.
Thank You again for your help.

You’d get a lot of intensive voice and body work at Tisch that you’d be hard pressed to find bouncing around the LA studios. As far as acting technique, it depends on the studio. I don’t think they teach Practical Aesthetics out there if that floats your boat and I doubt anything resembling the modern approaches you’d get in the Experimental Wing exist in the LA studios. Overall, though, I’d suggest just going to college in LA majoring in whatever and continuing to take studio classes at night if you’re not committed to theatre first. I personally think the most interesting and versatile screen actors come from a theatre background, but I doubt most of them would tell you they got their training and did theatre as a means to an end besides theatre as an end in itself. You might even be miserable if you have very little interest in theatre.
