Serious Concern.. UIUC Vs U Mich

<p>Hi, I'm a senior in high school right now..</p>

<p>Eventually, I have to decide where to go for next year.(very soon)</p>

<p>This is my question...</p>

<p>I got accepted to UIUC LSA and Ann Arbor LSA</p>

<p>I'm hoping to get into highly selective medical school in future</p>

<p>Thinking of majoring in Bio or Chem..</p>

<p>I'm a Illinois Resident so if I go to UIUC it would cost around $17000(total)</p>

<p>If I go to Michigan it would cost around $30000(total)<br>
(I have received some Grants from FAPSA) </p>

<p>Which means Ann Arbor costs twice more than UIUC. </p>

<p>Personally, I like Michigan better, and I know it is better school.</p>

<p>But I dont want to waste money if there is not much difference.</p>

<p>MY parents probably can pay for it, but I dont want them to pay that much if it's not worth it. </p>

<p>Which would be the smart choice?
Should I go to UIUC or Michigan?
Please keep in mind that I will have to study for long time and the cost difference bw UIUC and UMich(undergrad) in each yr is about ~$15000</p>

<p>I have asked many people about this issue. It's always 50%UIUC 50% U Mich
It's hard for me to decide, Please help...

<p>What do you intend to do when you graduate? Personally, I would say go for Illinois. $60,000 over years is a pretty hefty sum. Your folks could use that money to educate another sibbling or send you to graduate school.</p>

<p>Medical school is an extremely expensive endeavor. Given the large amount of debt most med grads accumulate, I suggest you choose UIUC for purely financial reasons. Yes, Michigan is a better school, but you'll thank yourself when you're not paying off loans 30 years from now.</p>

<p>I know people who went to UIUC an got into great med-schools. (My neighbor is actually at michigan med school right now and went to uiuc undergrad). It doesnt really matter which you pick -- just as long as you do well in your classes/are involved/etc.</p>

<p>You want to do MED!</p>

<p>Go to the cheap school, you will be going to 18 schools for 20 years. Save the money for now.</p>
