so i was pretty happy when i got my acceptance letter to H&SS and Tepper, but when I found out that the guy to girl ratio is around 60% guys to 40% guys i was devastated! is this something i should be concerned about? i mean.. i sort of like being around girls..

but to any current students is this skewed proportion of sexes something you notice? or is it something that affects social life?

edit: oh and if you feel inclined, i was also wondering if there are attractive girls at CMU, the general stereotype is that everybody's a techy geek.

Actually 60/40 (Tepper) is better than some of the other CMU colleges. CMU's overall male/female ratio is around 2/1. So that's nothing to worry about.

I think the derogatory threads about CMU womem are a bunch of bs. Us women don't demean the geeky male sterotypical culture at CMU. I'm going in with an open mind, and I hope everybody else does too.

There are a bunch of old threads on this, which summarize to:

There are more guys than girls. There are girls at Pitt. CMU girls may not be as 'pretty' as girls at other schools, but that probably means they just have a lot of work so they don't spend forever doing their hair in the morning. Many of the guys here aren't so 'hot,' so stop being hypocritical. No girl has ever asked if the guys are hot, or just tech geeks.
