serious question about fafsa

I have called financial aid services and have received many unclear answers. If my mother is my custodial parent (my parents are divorced), do I even have to put my dad's income numbers for his "snapshot income"? The lady from financial aid services says I do not have to provide any information about my dad if he is not custodial, but I wanted to make sure.

If I do provide my dad's income numbers, and they are greater than my mom's income numbers, will that make a difference if my mom is the custodial parent?

For FAFSA only the custodial parent's numbers are used

For Profile, you must have your Dad's info completed on the non-custodial parent form

but do I need to include his numbers on his financial snapshot? I talked to a lady on the phone and she said I didn't have to provide any information because his numbers arent used

I believe you only provide info about your mom in answer to any of the FAFSA questions

I don't know what you're talking about by "Financial snapshot" - if it is specific to a school or something then you might have to, but on the FAFSA you do not provide ANY information about the non-custodial parent (I too live with my mom/my dad does not have custody and we didn't put any information about him). As mentioned, CSS profile is different - there you do need the non-custodial parent's info.

On the FAFSA, you put ONLY the financial information for your custodial parent...not your non-custodial parent. There is no "financial snapshot" of the non-custodial parent at all. And I will venture that the nature of the financial income and asset information you provide for your custodial parent is more than a snapshot. What exactly do you mean by "financial snapshot"?
