Serious Should I Retake Question

Even as a California resident and ECL, your scores are a bit low for UCLA. Your GPA is quite good, so you still have a chance at getting in (particularly if you have good extracurriculars), but it would definitely be helpful if you improved the score.

It’s a bit unfortunate that UCLA doesn’t let you use Score Choice (although, other than your agreement with the university, there’s nothing preventing you and they won’t know if you do: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/1059844-any-ucla-admits-use-score-choice-their-app.html</a>), so if you get a lower score you will have to send it.

I still recommend that you try to take it again. According to a College Board statistic (I can’t find the link, but I remember reading it a while back), almost every student who retakes the SAT does better on it because they are more familiar with the test and how it works, so I wouldn’t worry too much about getting a lower score (and, even if you do, it probably won’t be a deal-breaker to your application if the rest of it is good).
