You might consider me over reacting, but my grades are freaking me out.

I'm currently in 10th grade. I have never made a B in my life. This current 9 weeks is killing me though. I'm working on pulling up my 79 in Chemistry and I have an 85 in math. I seriously struggle in math. It's awful. But, my grade in my language class is a 98. I love literature but hate math. I want to be a lawyer so badly, but I am afraid I won't be able to get in a respectable college if I make 2 B's this year?

By the way, I made A's in chemistry AND math the first semester. It's just this 9 weeks is so much harder. I take all honors/AP courses. I take the hardest courses I can.

Do you think I can still get into a good college?

wonders about real purpose of this thread

Even if you get two Bs your GPA will still end up being at least a 3.8. Maybe a 3.9, I’m not sure. You don’t have to have a 4.0 to get into a good college, and I’m sure you already know that.

Chill. It is not necessary to make straight As in high school in order to eventually make it as a successful lawyer. A few Bs won’t keep you out of consideration at top schools for undergrad. Going to a tippy top competitive school for undergrad isn’t even necessarily the best path to law school.

If law school is your goal, you will want to go to a college where you can get great grades. That might mean you should consider a school for undergrad that will give you a great education, but with a somewhat less competitive student body. Almost any undergraduate institution can be a stepping stone to a great or very good law school, if you do very well.

You can certainly be successful, even if you don’t end up with a straight A average forever.
