I have about a 1 month and a half to decide on whether I should switch out of AP Biology or not. Seriously How Hard is it to Get an A in AP Chemistry? Like this last quarter of Honors Chemistry I had a 97.3% A but I'm picturing AP Chemistry to be hell compared to Honors. I can't decide, I want to take both since I love both Subjects, but I can't this year and AP Biology seems more of a safer bet to get an A in than AP Chem right?

Depends how hard it is at your school. When I took it last year everyone made an A, but I doubt anyone who took the AP test made better than a 2. Yeah, it was a joke.

I would say Bio is safer. It really depends on the teacher though. Ask around.

The thing is my school was so over packed they opened up a brand new high school which I will be attending so I obviously can’t ask around. :(

My sister isn’t the greatest math/sci student (she cares so little) but she got an A in AP Chem even though she got Bs in regular chem and had a year between the classes. She worked really hard. Well, hard for her, but she’s a slacker. She also got a 5 on the AP exam and will never take math or science again. What a wimp.

It completely depends on your school’s AP chem class.

At my school, 3 kids in a class of 15 or so have A’s… but my teacher’s AP score average for the past few years is 4.1x

I win.

Depends alot on the teacher and the school it is being taught at. From my experience I had a pretty tough time in chem last year and got by with an 83 average. It was however my first experience with an AP course and I found most of my friends who were used to the work were getting As without many issues. It was hard but it seems quite doable.

Taking bio this year and I have a 97 average, I definitely prefer bio to chem, the concepts are so much easier to understand and so long as I kept up with the work and read the chapters I did okay.

I do think the Bio AP exam is supposed to be one of the easier ones though.

totally depends on my teacher. for any ap subject, it can range from insanely easy (not really an Ap course, you will probably fail the test) or really difficult (you will get a 5 no problem). My teacher for AP Chem was pretty easy, so glancing at notes for 30mins-hr would get a 95 or better. That said, my friends in AP Bio (similar but not same, I know) would study upwards of 15 hours to scrape a 70.

I got an A in AP Chem and a B in AP Bio. I got a 4 on both tests.

Easy. Don’t take either class.

Hard, if you have a good teacher.

At my school there is only 1 A in AP Chem, but there are 5’s every year!

At my school Ap Biology is difficult, Ap Chemistry may can be measured on the same level ( though slight differences in difficulty). Right now my Ap Biology teacher has entered my exam, and work assignments that I havent even turn in yet… making my grade look horrible.

Usually when you get classes such as Ap Biology, Ap Chemistry, Ap Physics etc… the question now doesn’t become which is difficult, but which are you better in learning/ studying. Also difficulty of the subjects alone may vary from schools.

Any more opinions?

I got an A in AP Chem and a C+ in Bio

i also got a 4 on the AP Chem test and a 5 on the Bio. Go figure.

Its all about the teacher…my teacher was very hard, but another teacher at my school gave like 50% of her kids As.

My teacher is difficult but amazing. I’d say maybe one or two kids get A’s. perhaps three.

but everyone who took the class last year got 5’s on the AP test.
