i ate at my college all the time for Owl Weekend..and never at the north or south serveries....so i was wondering if theyre better...cuz theyre bigger...like do they have more of a selection?

yes, they do. I often go eat at the south servery if I don't like what's at my college.

They definitely have more of a selection. And people from Rice will argue forever over which is better. (most seem to agree that the serveries are higher quality, I maintain that the colleges actually higher quality a lot of the time, but with fewer options.)

so... colleges themselves have places to eat, too?

Yes, each college is either connected to a servery which they share with 1 or 2 other colleges (5 of the colleges have this set-up right now) or has its own kitchen (4 colleges). Either way, the college has its own dining hall. (There are also several campus dining options in the student center, though these are not already paid for by the meal plan.)

north servery is best in my opinion, but any servery will get old after a while. that's why you should take advantage of the thousands of restaurants in houston. you can find good, cheap places if you take the initiative :)

The south servery has some pretty amazing desserts at times :)

The selection is obviously better at North and South because they're bigger, but I'd argue that the colleges often have better quality. I only eat at South if Lovett is closed. I eat off-campus at least once or twice a week though; there's a reason that Houston is the most obese city in the country.

I'd say that the quality of the food is usually about the same between the serveries and the colleges, with the advantage at the serveries being that you can always opt for a hamburger or salad if nothing else looks appetizing.

North and South serveries generally have a huge selection and variety at all times, and are generally pretty good. I personally love the north servery to death, even if I and others complain at times, heh.

But the offside is that small college serveries often have a lot of neat things, for example I think Baker generally has theme night thursdays, and I can still remember the caribbean food when I was there at owl weekend.

Anyways, students can eat at any servery, college or north/south.
