How many service hours should I do in order to look impressive to Tulane? They’re really big on service so I want to make sure that I have a good amount of service
@iamanxioushelp I can tell from all your questions on CC regarding volunteering, AP’s, etc. that you are really excited to apply to Tulane which is great. I am going to tell you the same thing I told my son, which is that there is no magic recipe for stats and activities that will guarantee you acceptance to a school like Tulane. As a lot of very qualified students learned this year, sometimes things go your way with the admissions office at a particular school, and sometimes they don’t. But, if you do your best to apply yourself in school and participate in activities that you are passionate about you will be an attractive college candidate to a whole bunch of schools. Just don’t get wrapped around the axle on one particular school. Research and apply to a lot of great schools like Tulane and you will be very happy in the end.
I second the above post, but if you want a point of reference, I did 109 hours in high school. I think there’s a section to talk about community service on Common App. As long as you can talk about a volunteering opportunity or two that you enjoyed, I don’t think the numbers really matter.
Good Luck!
@iamanxioushelp My sons AC told him when he applied for the Community Service Fellowship award that they look for impact of your service vs a ton of hours that did not indicate that they amounted to much. Keep that in mind
