Hi,

I dont know what these programs are called, but I've heard several people part of programs in which the programs help them through their undergraduate years and graduate years. Like providing free trips, mentoring services, etc.
Does anyone know such programs?

Thanks

Well - there is this program called Physician Scientist Training Program (PSTP), based at Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia. The program is for minorities... only, but occasionally, it accepts white and Asian students. It starts in 7th grade and continues every summer until you get into medical school. It prepares you until you get your M.D., Ph.D.

7th: Regular Training / Science courses at Temple Univ.
8th: Same as previous year
9th: Student researcher with a mentor at Temple Univ Med School and shadow doctors (stipend=$500)
10th: Same as previous year (stipend=$1000)
11th: Student researcher at NIH (stipend=~$3k and an apartment for the summer)
12th: Intern at a pharmaceutical company in San Diego/Seattle/Boston (stipend=~$3k + apartment)
1st year in college: Intern at Univ of Toronto (similar stipend as previous year)
2nd year in college: Research in Rome/Japan/Spain, I think (similar stipend as previous year)
3rd year: Depends.. you can end up working for NIH again

Check it out on www.temple.edu/pstp
