My brother's school recently made all of the students take the ACT to determine class placement for high school (he's in 8th grade and it's part of this new curriculum thing that they're introducing). Anyway he told me that one of his friends said that there is an equal number of each answer choice on each section (for example 20 As, 20 Bs, 20 Cs, and 20 Ds) I find this HIGHLY unlikely but I was wondering if there is any truth to this? I have taken the ACT twice and have not noticed any trend as far as how many of each choice there is, but then again I may have been too focused on the test to notice.

No, they never do that on standardized tests. Think about it, if this were true, it would be much easier to guess iffy answers knowing that there is a set number of each answer choice. If anything, it was a coincidence.

That’s what I was thinking, especially considering this was coming from an 8th grader, but I figured I’d look into it anyway.
