I’m trying to be optimistic since Huntsman wants diversity… but not many people have been accepted with Korean ( below 10) . Though I’m a native, most Korean accepted students were natives so I hope it won’t act as a disadvantage.

So! I still have 5 months left but I might as well get starting.!:)

Anybody else sure they’re applying to Huntsman?

I am, but I need to re-take my SAT 2s (700 in Math and Spanish right now!) I'm applying early as well, and am an International (Brit in Australia). Target language probably French or Spanish (taking SAT 2 French in October/November, expecting an 800 -- mom's french.) Do you live in Korea?

hey britchic - !

I live in Korea but English is more comfortable for me.
I used to live in Australia too - in Perth /lol/ like nobody lives there!
Alot of my friends in Perth all went to college this year ! I envy them!

You should try to avoid doing Korean though, if at all possible. I know they forced one Korean student, after getting in, to change her language to something like Spanish. I don't think they like natives.

pepero,
Perth! That's eons away! Haha. I'm in Sydney, loving it. I've only been here for a few years though (since the 9th grade). I miss Europe in general. Do you go to an international or american school as well?

I know / lol / nobody lives in Perth :) but I really liked it there! I miss the 'bizarre' australian accent /lol/

I attend a normal high school but it's kind of a special elite school ( strange to put it like this in my own words) and we send alot of students to ivys. What about you?

I really want to apply to Huntsman, but I don't really fit into the requirements :(((

I'm an international student (junior) from Eastern Europe. American-style high-school, good reputation.

GPA: 6.0/6.0 (no APs at my school)
sat1 : m 800, cr 730, w 710, have an old one, too: m 780, v 630
sat2s: world his 790, taking the chem and physics in a week, still haven't planned anything about math 2c but there is plenty of time.

ECs:

Debate: prez, national titles in debate, public speaking, international competitions, international camps..., currently even coaching the team. in the club since 2002

MUN: prez, nat level conferences, awards, since 2003

Mock Trial: prez, it is not on a competitive basis in my country, since 2003

School Paper: Opinions Section editor, in there since 2003

Softball Intramural: prez, since 2002

Student Advisory Committee (I just can't learn to spell that word)

Basketball Team (only for keeping in shape)

Summers:
- worked as a translator last summer
- going to exploration at yale this summer

THE thing is: I don't know anything about these APs - may be my curriculum covers them, but I don't know how to show that I'm at that level

THE BIG PROBLEM is: I am not that good at my second language (German), even though I get nice grades at school, I should say I really suck. I don't believe I can do really well on the sat. I was thinking that I may start learning Rusiian which will not be that difficult, but when will I need to take their lang. test, i.e. how much time do I have to learn Russian?:)))

ok, could you try and evaluate my chances, please?

Pepero, I go to the American School in Sydney, though I'm British-French (Mum is French, Dad is Brit). :-) I love Australia, it's wonderful!

hey verbore and britchic!

First, verbore - as far as I know, huntsman requires that you take Calculus.. so it's kind of going to be hard if you don't have calc taken. Other than that, you seem fine! You could try to go to a college in your country and take summer classes if they have one to show that you are good at calc even though you couldn't take it.

and britchic! I know a person who went to huntsman this year and she was emphasizing how it's even late to prepare for applications in june..I'm so depressed cause I have my sats and finals! lol

hey britchic - did you have any other schools you wanted to apply to? since we probably have similar interests, it'd be intersting to know which schools you wanted to apply RD

RD I think I'm applying to NYU Stern, Brown, Columbia, Northwestern, Stanford, Amherst, and USC. Thinking about Yale (reach reach reach) and some others. You?

Wow - your list is a little different from mine.

I was thinking
Harvard ( Kennedy school),
Princeton ( W.Wilson)
Columbia ( maybe the 5 year undergraduate + SIPA ),
NYU Stern,
Berkeley( HAAS),
Georgetown (SFS),
Chicago - I don't know why but I love this school
Duke but it's too much in the mountains.

and Yale won't be a reach reach reach for you - by the way, it's a reach for everybody.=]

Wow you're applying to a lot of international relations and public affairs schools! I'm having trouble deciding because I think I want a liberal arts education as well. I actually revised my list lately, and I'm unsure of whether I want to apply to Huntsman ED. Haha.

Brown
Columbia (Columbia College)
NYU Stern
Princeton (Because of their fantastic dance program)
Northwestern (Medill)
Yale
USC (Annenberg)
Amherst
Stanford

I seriously have no safeties, except maybe USC. That's ten schools overall. I have heard great things about UChicago. It's really strong in Economics. Bad dorms though, I hear. Haha. What's your email address we can talk more :) I'll PM mine to you.

I jest. Chicago doesn't have bad dorms. Don't know what I was talking about, haha.
