So anyone ever gone to audition at SETC as a senior? Thoughts on this? Also i wonder if they would make an offer from one at that , since it’s in march so they would almost have to…
We went last year as a junior for those auditions. Did get lots of interest and a few in state tuition offers but wondering how they treat the senior auditions …
We had two schools that are now contenders come out of that trip.
Great questions. My D had a great time at SETC as a junior last year. I think it would depend on the major your child is interested in. Most of the MT schools will probably already be done. However, I know Lipscomb has SETC listed on its website as a chance to audition for their MT program. I wish the SETC website would tell us which schools would be auditioning for which majors.
The schools looking at seniors will likely be smaller than the schools looking at juniors. If you can look at the SETC website and they list the schools currently scheduled to attend, you can then check if those schools are rolling admissions, have application dates past the conference dates, or are able to except late applications.
Example: The university where I teach attends SETC, but cannot consider HS seniors for program admissions because there is a strict academic application deadline before the date of the SETC conference.
Each school i different.
Thanks @KatMT . A friend asked us if we were going again & I was contemplating it for any last minute possibilities but probably won’t go. I will check what schools are going & what their deadlines are though.
I know a student that went as a senior and was given an offer and attends the school now. My guess is that’s pretty rare.
My daughter went last year as a senior and received 2 written offers by the time we left and a few offers that made it sound like they would be official once she applied and was accepted by the university academically. These were offers from newer programs and/or smaller schools, but were nice to have since at that time she was still waiting on results from her other auditions. She ended up being accepted at a school she auditioned for, but if that offer had not come through she was very happy to go to either of the 2 programs that made her the written offers. Our impression was that the bigger programs had already filled their slots by SETC, but smaller schools, private schools and newer programs were still looking for students.
Just messaged you @amt2016
