Setc?

Has anyone on this board attended the college auditions for high school juniors at the spring SETC?

I noticed that about 80 colleges went last year.

Just curious if those auditions are productive by getting colleges interested in certain kids at an earlier stage.

Yes, I attended the SETC auditions as a junior last year, and it was a wonderful experience. I met with a lot of great schools and learned about a lot of new ones that I am applying to this year. I have even been accepted into some schools (smaller ones, yes) because of my performance at SETC last year- I still get emails about to this day!

It’s a great way to add schools to your list, or knock ones off if you weren’t called back (unless you want to try again, why not?) or didn’t like the people you met with there. I definitely recommend it!

Also, sign up as early as you can! It really sucked for the kids who were later in the schedual and didn’t get time to meet with enough auditors afterwords. Also, some of the bigger schools will leave (Carnegie Mellon and Point Park did) mid-auditions for the juniors since it’s “not as important” so you definitely want to get in with them if you can.

I think more and more schools are going to SETC auditions to connect with students even earlier. Many of us are there any way so it just makes sense to go over to the prospective auditions if we are not freelancing professionally and are in the professional auditions and/or presenting.
