I’ll go first.
My S24 applied last week. He added SHU recently to his options and it immediately climbed his list when he toured. He really liked the IR with multiple language option.
Large NJ public HS
3.7 UW GPA
SAT 1380
5 APs
Major: Diplomacy & IR
Accepted !! 23k merit. About half tuition
Congrats on the early acceptance for your son! I did not know they had rolling admissions, thought only EA by Nov 15 and you’d find out about a month later. My S24 plans to apply in the next few weeks, debating whether to go for the 3+3 pre-law program, or apply for general admission if the 3+3 is very competitive.
Yeah we weren’t aware either. My older ones hadn’t applied to SHU so it was our first time
Anyone here know if 3+3 PA or DPT is test optional? We saw Joint MD is not but not sure about PA or DPT program. My son sent email to ask but has not yet received the response.
The website said it is test optional but during the virtual tour, the admissions rep stated that you should send in test scores for the 3+3 law program. My S24 has an interview tomorrow with the regional admissions officer so he is going to ask this question before he submits his app.
@BoroDad Congrats on the admission. Do you remember when you applied? We are still waiting to hear.
03-Oct submitted
20-Oct accepted with aid letter
That is really fast. I think our app was in close to that time but they just received transcript on the 21st. I guess I won’t panic yet
did your S24 hear anything new regarding 3+3 program?
So the web page is here. There are three paths to e there the 3+3 law program and for two scores are strongly encouraged the required for the third
My S24 had his SHU interview yesterday, and the AO did state that they must send in their test scores for the three programs and did not imply it was in any way optional (she didn’t distinguish between Law + IR which seemed to have been the lowest bar of the 3+3 programs). She said that you must choose to apply to 3+3 or the general pool, ie / if you are not admitted to 3+3, you don’t automatically get placed with general applicants. Since our son is applying TO, he will likely change his choice of major before hitting submit.
Sounds like they need to update the web site
What did your S24 think about SHU?
He likes it, and I think it’s a true match school for him. He is also applying to Providence, Drexel, and a few other NE schools plus several in state schools as backup. We did not make the fall open house but if he is admitted, we’ll take a trip up. Did the virtual tour which was good except for the first 10 minutes when the student tour guide forgot to screenshare the presentation on Zoom.
Our DS24 just got accepted! He submitted 15 days early on Nov 1 and got the decision back on Nov 6. He had the common app started for some time and in the interview last week, the AO seemed to be referencing classes he put into the application so he may have had a head start. This is the first acceptance that has come in from the EA batch. I’m so relieved and happy for him…hoping we can get to NJ to do a “campus day” when he can get a taster of the student experience.
Congrats on The Hall!! What school/major did he finally submit?
S24 just got accepted as well for diplomacy and IR.
Since we are in TX, it will be a bit of planning to visit in person, but I did registered for a virtual tour this weekend.
BoroDad, so I don’t see any financial aid/merit on his portal. Did they offer your S24 aid right away, or after a few weeks?
