My d was planning to take a year off, but applied to a few schools just in case. We didn't do a lot of research, just followed suggestions from her high school counselor. Now, she has been accepted into Seton Hill's program and loves it. What does anyone know about it? MT is her life and I want her to be a program that offers her the best chances of continuing on after college.

Seton Hill has a fairly young program with a really dynamic faculty. Two of my theatre teaching colleagues are there, Denise Pullen and Joe Domencic. Denise is one of the best directors, acting teachers, and voice and speech teachers I know (as well as an accomplished playwright), and Joe is an amazing acting teacher and singing voice teacher who performs regularly with Pittsburgh Public Theatre and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera (both major Equity houses). As I’m sure you also know, Seton Hill is about to open an amazing new performing arts building.

Seton Hill is not one of the programs that has a big “our grads are working” rep yet, but my guess is that it will. The resources are certainly there. I’m not sure about how extensive the dance training is (I’d check into that), but if your D wants to be in a program with a lot of personal attention, Seton Hill is a great place for her. Greensburg is a 40 minute - 1 hour drive from Pittsburgh (depending on traffic near the city), but there are a LOT of professional opportunities in Pittsburgh, and Greensburg also has a partial-Equity theatre company, Stage Right, which is housed virtually next door to the new Seton Hill arts building.

I will encourage my friends on the faculty to post here so they can answer questions for your D and any other students who are considering Seton Hill!
