Would it be better to leave a message and hope for a call back, or should I just try again and hope someone will actually be there? I'm having trouble setting up an interview at Bowdoin. Will they actually call me back if I leave my name and number on the answering machine? I need to set it up today, so any answers would be appreciated.

generally leaving a message and hoping for a callback doesn't work. I did that with one school and never got the interview, mainly because we kept missing eachother. If you call back and no one picks up, I suggest leaving a message saying you'll try calling back at a certain time (e.g. "tomorrow evening"). Then, hopefully when you call again, they'll pick up.

Thanks, LadyinRed. I was going to take your advice, but they actually picked up and I got the interview time I wanted. I'll probably have to use it for other colleges, though.
