Settle for C or get a D??

I am a first year and college is really different for me, specially studying. I really didn't know how to study and I am struggling with one of my courses.

I have a C right now, and I was wondering if you all think i should settle for a C or should I request my professor to give me D so that I can retake the course. I mean, my new grade will replace D and added to my GPA. So which one do you all think is better: accept C, or retake for a better grade that will count towards GPA??

THanks a bunch!

I think u should just take the C but that’s just me. I probably wouldn’t do any better personally, but if you think you can, then go for it. And im lazy…sooo lol i wouldnt want to retake it lol

Tricky Question. If you are aiming for grad, I don’t know how the admissions people are going to react. Hard to tell…but if you do get a D, note that it does stay on your transcript (I think?) and everyone will see it.

Go for the C.

oh man you’re screwed. did you party every weekend?
anyways you should go for the C.

take the C, move on, do awesome in your classes next semester (and the semester after that, etc.)

is this real life?

If you get a D in a course you can retake it and your GPA won’t be affected?

^Yes
“REPEATING A GRADE OTHER THAN A D, F, NP, OR U: If you repeat a course in which you received a grade other than a D, F, NP, or U, the course will count as part of your class schedule for the semester and the grade you earn will be listed on your transcript. However, the grade will not be included in your GPA, and the course units will not count toward graduation unless unless the course description in the UC Berkeley Catalog states “course may be repeated for credit.””

That’s why I’m wondering if I should just retake it so that it doesn’t affect my GPA, BUT the D will still be on my transcript?

Hmm…

[How to Repeat a Course - Office Of The Registrar](http://registrar.berkeley.edu/courserep.html)

ankur…

the things u learn on college confidential : ]

some of these sites really come in handy as much as i hate wasting time on them

Your college GPA will be affected, so it’ll look better to you.

But the grade will still be on your transcript, and grad/med/law schools will recalculate it to reflect your original grade.

so… it’s actually better to just keep the C either way…

How about asking for I (Incomplete) grade and retake the course to replace the grade later on?

daaaamn, that I is cool.
