Settling for Your Safety

So, class of 2011 is finally ready to apply to college. I'm totally confused about college admissions and like a lot of CC'ers, I'm not sure where I'll end up.
But one question always comes to mind, if given the decision between a highly regarded uni or a safety, where would you go?

There could be many reasons to settle.
-You want to keep your grades up
-You want to save money
-You want to take it easy in school,
-ECT.

I'm not sure what I would do. It's definitely a thought to consider!

Just saying, assuming your safety is a very easy school can turn around and bite you in the ass sometimes. I’ve seen it happen

Unless I get a full scholarship to a “more-prestigious” university, I think I will attend my safety school, UW-Madison. It’s large size provides diversity, both racially and socio-economically. It has more resources than most small-private schools couldn’t dream of, with top-notch professors. While there may be large class sizes my freshman and sophomore year, I am motivated enough to do my own work without having a professor by my side, on-call 24/7; however, this is only my personal preference, and there are several different types of students

In the end for me, it all comes down to tuition.

TaggartNY: How so?

And the tuition thing is so true. I’m not sure what even defines a safety at this point. For VA Schools, there’s a fine line between safety and match. UVA is known for their odd decisions.

At this point Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University is my safety. I’m not crazy about it:/
