...has a reputation for being so shallow and unintelligent lol. I can barely believe I read it. Especially when I have to sneak it out of the mailbox discreetly each month so my parents don't see. The only thing is that, (un)fortunately, it is really fun to flip through.

lol do you guys have any closeted interests?

I don’t understand how that magazine has survived as long as it has.

^^Lawl, I knew someone was going to say that.

I like the pictures…they’re pretty.
o.O

I read Seventeen, People, and all those ‘shallow’ magazines in the doctor/dentist office.

My closeted interest is to drink stuff by the gallons. I think I might die from Vitamin C overdose. This juice I’m drinking has 130% of your daily Vitamin C per cup, but I just downed five cups…

Excess Vitamin C isn’t stored by the body, so you’ll just urinate the excess out. The same can’t be said for all vitamins, though.

lol, I like reading Seventeen magazine. I never even knew it was a bad thing to do. Oh well. It is amusing though. Some of the advice they give is decent I think, although a bit cliche.

And yes, I read those other shallow magazines. You don’t need to be intellectual all the time imo. lol.

But then again Science and Nature (and I recently discovered RNA) are all great as well. For some reason popular science magazines don’t appeal to me as much.

I have been subscribing to Seventeen magazine ever since I was in 8th grade, so that’s about four years. It’s kind of a guilty pleasure for me; I’m almost 18 but I can’t seem to find that magazine that bridges the gap between adolescence and adulthood. To tell the truth, I don’t think I’m old enough to read Cosmo yet :P

I think what bothers me the most about Seventeen is the way that they put clothes together on their fashion spreads. I have no problems with being original with fashion but I think Seventeen tries too hard to infuse trends with uniqueness and it doesn’t work. It doesn’t even look cute on the models, so what makes you think I’ll want to try it myself? They just have a weirdo sense of style at that magazine.

Rant over.

I think the primary things that always annoyed me about seventeen were:

they always sound so damn chipper in everything the write. And not in a natural “hey we’re happy” way, but in this really fake irritating manner.
It seemed like they were always talking down and dumbing down to their readers by doing this horribly crafted “let’s write as if we’re all BFFs.” approach.
I think that’s what bothered me the most.

Back in HS, I didn’t have the heart to tell her I’d outgrown thar magazine and she subscribing and subscribing for me – and I’d force myself to read it out of guilt.

I think I admitted my guilty pleasure in another thread(?) but I like to watch the haul videos on YouTube. :(

Except most of them are all the same stores: Forever 21. I don’t shop at that cheap store nor do I like the crap they produce.
I feel alone in that regard. Everyone else loves F21.
insert tear

^ Hahaha I love F21! Yeah it’s cheap but the clothes are cute and inexpensive. What more could you want? :D

i love those kinds of magazines. i used to subscribe to cosmogirl, but they went out of business, can u believe?! so i switched over to seventeen…it’s only okay, though, i think. now i’m more into cosmopolitan ;]
