Several questions about listing service, honors etc.

If I do different forms of community service (help out at a nursing home, started a volunteer orchestra, online research for non-profit), do I list each one separately under activities? I’ve seen some people just group everything into one spot under “community service.”

What about awards that aren’t really “academic” and aren’t really related to an EC? Like essay contests? Do I still put those under academic honors, because some of my most important awards aren’t academic or EC-related.

I have more than 7 classes! What should I do? It only lets me fit in 7.

Is it okay if one of your schools doesn’t have your intended majors if they let you create your own major? Or will that look like you haven’t really researched your schools?

Thanks!

I have similar questions.

To expand on number 2: Can I put band related honors in the Honors section or do I have to somehow fit them in the activities section?

To expand on 3: What if I'm independently studying courses this year (completely outside of school)? I'm self studying AP Chem and possibly both AP Econs. Can I write that as a class I'm taking? Like in the form:

AP Chemistry (Independent study)

Thanks for help

It isn't a class, so you can't put it there. You should probably put it in the additional info section in that format (99.9999%, virtually everyone I know that has gone through the process has done this).

Unfortunately...since I'm ignorant about 99.3.1415% of such college topics, this is the only question i can answer at 11pm when I'm bored and have nothing to do but browse through many sections.
